Titans confirm Vince Young is on his way out

V. Youngface

The departure of Jeff Fisher in Tennessee doesn’t mean that Vince Young will get his tenth life in Nashville.

Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt confirmed multiple reports that the team still plans to trade or release Young this offseason.  (As Florio points out, they also said Jeff Fisher was staying.)

The disappointment with Young within the Titans organization went beyond Fisher.  Players and front office members reportedly felt let down by the quarterback.  NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi said this week that Young’s lack of work ethic is “legendary” around the team.

Good luck getting those trade offers.

He’ll either be a Raider or a Viking next year…

That dude has a KILLER unibrow!

Wherever he ends up. He will win many more games than he loses. Always has. Always will. In the right situation (like Vikings) he is a Superstar! Titans would be wise to bury the hatchet here. Admit that Fisher was more responsible for the VY result in Tennesee. And let a better coach like Billick or Cowher come in a thrive with this player. The players only care about winning. And they know VY gives them the best chance of doing that.

Advice to Titans! Stop with the media proclamations about your intentions. Just focus on winning a championship right now. And you will easily see what you have to do right now! You’re not that far away. But if your next move is lousy, you may as well start over.

By the time this is said and done, the Titans will be lucky to get a bucket of Gatorade for him.

Eat drink ddump and sleep aka Vince Young will be in Dallas next week partying like a rock star. Making it rain, that’s what’s important to him…the party and off the field endeavors. Playing QB and leading his team to a SuperBowl…not so much.

VY won’t have trouble finding employment. He may be a dumbass but he’s still an upgrade at QB for a lot of teams.

  7. ncsteve83 says: Jan 28, 2011 1:48 PM

Indeed he does have a sweet Unibrow.

Panthers need to look at him still. NO WAY HE IS WORSE THEN JIMMY CLAUSEN. As a stop gap QB, he may have some value, but he is not the long term solution for any organization.

    baboushka has no clue.

Come to Miami Vince we need a great QB.

Focus Corny! Focus! This thread is about Vince Young. Not baboushka!

    He needs a brain transplant.

May he and Jamarcus can open a restaurant together. …………….”The Lazy ass Pub”

  13. broncosteviep says: Jan 28, 2011 3:07 PM

Hmmm… Jamarcus Russell, Vince Young, Jason Campbell, Micheal Vick (by his own admission), Donovan McNabb (by T.O), and most recently David Garrard.

All QB’s in the league, and all have had their work ethic questioned. What is the common theme there?

I’ll give you 3 guesses, and the first 2 don’t count.

  14. driftw00d says: Jan 28, 2011 3:12 PM

And when it happens, the first 3 QBs selected in 2006 will all have been run out of town.

  15. NFLJunkie says: Jan 28, 2011 3:19 PM

The money due Vince on the final year of his deal makes it a foregone conclusion no one’s going to trade anything of real value to inherit that short-term contract.

MAYBE the Titans luck into a late round pick or a role player if someone decides it’s worth exclusive negotiating rights in a “sign and trade” situation where his new team gives him a low-risk/incentive-laden deal.

Nothing the Titans said today lessened their chances of that happening — it was already the best case scenario, and was never particularly likely. Especially when you factor in the impact of no CBA on potential trades.

And it means Young has to want the trade and accept the new contract terms, too.

    @broncostevie,

Have you considered devoting all of your fanaticism to hockey? I know there are a couple of them at the professional level, but you should be able to avoid a group you obviously detest.

I heard Kroger is Now Hiring

  18. realitypolice says: Jan 28, 2011 5:20 PM

I feel terrible for Titans fans.

This team is going to stink out loud next year.

A head coach who has never even been a coordinator (munchak), a brittle 125 year old QB, and an owner who probably still has a rotary phone in his house.

The Andrew Luck watch is on in Nashville.

  19. realitypolice says: Jan 28, 2011 5:24 PM

I get posts yanked off of here because I dare criticize PFT’s journalistic standards, but broncosteviep can post racist comments at will.

Way to have those priorities straight.

  20. djaehne says: Jan 28, 2011 5:31 PM

Bud Adams will likely resign Vince Young after
dropping him to a much more owner friendly contract. Hope Vince likes beef, he’ll probably get a few cattle like Elvin Betha got back in the 1970s with the Oilers. Bud loved to pay his players in cattle. haha…

  22. gjrich says: Jan 28, 2011 5:40 PM

Darth Goodell says VY won’t have trouble finding a job? Name five teams that will take him instead of somebody they can draft.
    Can’t, can you?

  23. newreality1 says: Jan 28, 2011 6:34 PM

Hey, Maybey the Titans can get j cutler on trade . YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  24. whatchutalkinabouthillis says: Jan 28, 2011 6:37 PM

I bet my fanhood the Titans take Blaine Gabbert now. Write it down!

    gjrich says:

“Name five teams that will take him instead of somebody they can draft.”

Redskins, Niners, Cardinals, Vikings, Raiders, Bengals, Dolphins, Panthers… that’s assuming the Titans even decide to get rid of him.

Whether they’d prefer VY to a draft pick sort of depends on what’s available when their pick comes around, doesn’t it?

  26. dolphins4 says: Jan 28, 2011 11:22 PM

Lets go Dolphins, you can either lose with Henne or win with Vince young the choice is yours. If you like to coach the Dolphins I’d pick Young if not go with Henne and he’ll get you fired.
