Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy exited Saturday’s Senior Bowl game with what was initially announced as a “contusion” on his right (throwing) hand. McElroy suffered the injury when he banged his hand on a helmet.

According to the Birmingham Press-Register, McElroy has a fractured bone in the hand.

McElroy’s father says the break occurred near his son’s thumb.

The Press-Register‘s report states that McElroy will be unable to throw for two weeks. He appears to be questionable to throw at February’s Scouting Combine.

A two-year starter for the Crimson Tide, McElroy compiled a 39:10 career touchdown-to-interception ratio for Nick Saban, and completed a sterling 70.9 percent of his passes as a senior.

He is considered to have below-average arm strength, but is a good decision maker, proven leader, and possesses outstanding intelligence.

McElroy is a projected fifth- to seventh-round pick.
