Lamarr Woodley pokes fun at Packers team photo drama

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley celebrates after he sacked New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez in the second quarter during the NFL AFC Championship football game in Pittsburgh

The whole Packers team photo controversy is more than a little silly, but the recent round of back-and-forth between Packers players means the story is going to extend into this week.

Steelers linebacker Lamarr Woodley was the latest to chime in via Twitter.

“I can tell u this much-us @steelers would never be tweeting jabs at each other.. over a team picture issue especially LOL,” Woodley wrote on Saturday.

The story will not have any impact on the game, but the last few days may have told us why the Packers didn’t want guys like linebacker Nick Barnett and tight end Jermichael Finley joining the festivities until later in the week.

how can someone make fun of a winners superbowl picture! guess a picture is worth a 1000 words! have fun with that loser ring!!!!

  2. burnzy32 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:01 PM

thats cause the STEELERS are there on the mission for Stairway to SEVEN, Green Bays just happy to be there….real talk

  3. skeletaldrawing says: Jan 30, 2011 1:05 PM

While I don’t really disagree with Woodley’s assessment of the situation, a smart man would have shut his (twitter) trap, rather than provide his opponent with an external enemy to focus on and rally around.

  4. trickbunny says: Jan 30, 2011 1:06 PM

    “LOL”, indeed.

I wonder if he dots the letter i with a little heart…

  5. nitschke66 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:07 PM

Woodley – make sure you tweet about the scoreboard pic next Sunday night!

  6. jw731 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:08 PM

So…..he tweets about the other team tweeting….LOL…Am i the only one who sees the irony in this?…..Grown men tweeting is embarrassing enough….it was created for 15 year old girls….

  7. herokravon says: Jan 30, 2011 1:12 PM

That’s why next week it will be pros versus joes.

  8. buckybadger says: Jan 30, 2011 1:12 PM

@burnzy32, hope your wrong but I am wondering too.

Finley and Barnett never where the brightest bulbs in the shed. Barnett better enjoy this one cause he is gone after the season. Finley has yet to play a full season and might need to be around the team more.

  9. buckybadger says: Jan 30, 2011 1:13 PM

Of course I feel this is all an overreaction but its just stupid these guys can’t shut up.

  10. tramonwilliams38 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:16 PM

    who is Lamarr Woodley?????

  11. guada1265 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:17 PM

If I were Woodley, I’d laugh too! This non-issue is all there is to talk about. Maybe Woodley and the Steelers would like Ol’ NicK on their team next year? Nick Barnett isn’t a bad guy, just not always a smart guy. He’s been licking the edge of trouble since he’s been in Green Bay. He’s always reactionary, thinking about himself first. Twitter in his hand is like giving a sharp object to a toddler; sooner or later they’re gonna get cut. Ultimately, so will Barnett. He can’t stay out of his own way. I’d much rather keep a guy like A.J. Hawk, who is a polar opposite of Nick. When Barnett gets cut, he should realize he did it to himself. He plays for the team of Nick Barnett first, Packers second.

No tweet or picture is going to ruin the focus of the Packers. The best TEAM will win next Sunday.

  12. hooterdawg says: Jan 30, 2011 1:20 PM

The Packers probably won’t want PFT to join the festivities, either, due to the criticism and soap opera on this site over internal Packer team issues.

  13. begz77 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:23 PM

Woodley just opened a can of worms……just like Wes Welker did…..he should have kept his mouth shut!!!!!!!

  14. zackd2 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:24 PM

I can tell you this much, grown men shouldn’t be typing “LOL” @you’renot12anymore

  15. mikefromla says: Jan 30, 2011 1:24 PM

Nick Barnett will be a viking by the start of next season. Then he’ll never have to worry about another super bowl photo.

  16. carson9 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:28 PM

not a steeler fan here, but i agree with him. Heading into the biggest game of your career, and your teammates are whining over a stupid photo? Clearly the Pack aren’t concerned much with winning.

  17. johnnyballsack says: Jan 30, 2011 1:28 PM

Too much idle time between Championship games and the Super Bowl. Both teams need to concentrate on the game instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing. It goes for both teams. Prepare for the game like a professional that is getting paid a lot of money to do their job.

  18. atlien698 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:30 PM

The Packers could have squashed this issue by simply calling Bill Belichick or Josh McDaniels. I’m sure they have plenty of photos of the entire Packers organization together.

  19. ironcity330 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:31 PM

Lamarr is a beast, with him and Harrison on the edge and Hampton up the middle, good luck Green Bay. Steelers corners wont be slipping on poor field conditions either.

  20. packerbacker12 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:33 PM

Don’t blame the Packers for this ‘controversy’. The media is the one who made the story bigger then it actually was.

  21. driftw00d says: Jan 30, 2011 1:34 PM

If Jack Lambert had twitter, do you think he ever would have ended one with LOL? Times sure have changed.

  22. jamson64 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:34 PM

TRAMON- not much of an NFL fan I see.

  23. jrmbadger says: Jan 30, 2011 1:36 PM

Maybe he should focus more on stopping a passing attack. Last I checked the Steelers Defense lost to the only two decent passing teams they faced (Patriots and Saints).

  24. burnzy32 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:37 PM

    @begz77

a can of worms??? Welker ROASTED their head coach, Woodley said “I can tell u this much-us @steelers would never be tweeting jabs at each other.. over a team picture issue especially LOL”

thats not a personal attack…..thats a general statement that probably 30 other NFL teams agree with, barnett and finley are idiots distracting their teammates when they should be focused on nothing but the steelers…..selfish……..just happy to be there

  25. bearsblitz78 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:38 PM

Skeletaldrawing Says Woodley should have shut his trap, rather than provide the opponent with an external enemy to focus on and rally around.

Hahahahahaha!!! That’s awesome. The Packers are going to rally around this jest (point) Woodley made? Are you serious? The Packers can’t even rally around each other for a team photo. But hey, whatever makes you packrats feel better, I guess.

    Go Steelers!!!!

  26. discosucs2005 says: Jan 30, 2011 1:41 PM

I love Packer fans who have been testifying as to how little this photo scandal will effect the out come of the Super Bowl, but think that this “trash talk” is going to be bulletin board material. The game will probably be decided by who has the better day, Woodley and Harrison or Raji and Jenkins, not by the photo controversy or whatever you want to call Woddley’s comment.

Btw did anyone else notice that awesome karate kick?

  27. wegogreenbay says: Jan 30, 2011 1:41 PM

Nick Barnett has always been a douche.

  28. pervyharvin says: Jan 30, 2011 1:41 PM

you’ll know him pretty well after the game next week. He only has 10 sacks in 6 career playoff games.

Oh trust me. You’ll know who Lamar Woodley is after next week!

  34. cylondetector says: Jan 30, 2011 2:37 PM

    I LMAO’d when I read that.

    No really.

  35. sacram3ntal says: Jan 30, 2011 2:56 PM

Luckily this stupid little back and forth popped up a week out, and will be a dead issue well before game time.

I’m sure Rodgers was echoing the sentiments of more than a few people on the team- especially considering guys like Ryan Grant who HAVE stuck around all season.

But… he (Rodgers) hopefully gets now that there was nothing whatsoever to gain in bringing this stuff up right now, especially in such a public way.

All he needed to say was “yep, they’re all part of the team, I’m glad they’ll be with us in Dallas.”

They’ll “hug it out” on Thursday and that’ll be it, but hopefully they understand better just how big (and desperate for a story) the media microscope is for them right now.

    (and also… Go Pack! :)

  36. broncos4ever says: Jan 30, 2011 3:08 PM

Barnett knows he is gone for sure after his latest tweet he has been a behind the scenes player with a sense of entitlement . Finley has shown promise thats it he is immature and will likely go the route of Javon Walker please Green Bay don’t send him to the Broncos .

  37. regulator1978 says: Jan 30, 2011 3:19 PM

Hey LaMarr I’d much rather have the team photo controversy then have a rapist for a quarterback who shouldn’t even be in the league. I’d take Rodgers any day over Ben Rapistberger.

  38. pack15forever says: Jan 30, 2011 3:22 PM

  39. Deb says: Jan 30, 2011 3:23 PM

    @tramonwilliams38 …

Who is Lamarr Woodley? He’s the guy who led James Harrison to the promised land after his INT in SBXLIII, then sacked Warner and stripped the ball to end the game and any chance the Cards had to come back.

  40. pervyharvin says: Jan 30, 2011 3:42 PM

…or some may call it Twitter Town.

  42. melikefootball says: Jan 30, 2011 3:55 PM

Woodly may be running his tweeter but the Packer PLAYERS are making a deal out of this. You would think going to the Super Bowl you would not have time to point fingers and cry. Lets see picture or ring, picture or ring?

It was only last year when Ward called out Roethlisberger…questioning his toughness…I am sure come media day the focus will be the Packers team photo and not the fact that the Steelers QB is a multiple alleged rapist.

  45. Matt-NC says: Jan 30, 2011 4:18 PM

    Oh no!

  46. calloustongue says: Jan 30, 2011 4:20 PM

The only people this story is distracting is Packer and Steeler fans anxiously awaiting a great match up next Sunday.

If you think this story will have .0001% impact on the outcome of the game, you’re a fool.

Haters from other teams can talk and judge all they want, but honestly you can’t say with a straight face this team has a schism, or Arod is a jerk or w/e other dumb stuff people are spouting off on here about.

15 Players on IR. Superbowl. Where’s your team?

    That’s what I thought. Here’s your card.

First of all, idiots, there’s no ‘serial rapist’ in a QB getting drunk and DTF with a college kid. Secondly, he was never charged. Get a life already.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Ben Roethlisberger? Yeah, we’ll see how you feel next Monday.

  48. stavreafavre says: Jan 30, 2011 4:43 PM

Oh really “Herb” Woodley? We recently learned that your teammate Kemoeatu has contradicted the official Steelers’ line on the availability of Pouncey in the big game! The Pittsburgh facade of unity is unravelling faster than a cheap towel in a room full of cats! Now where’s your pompous pose of purported peerlessness? Yeah! Huh?!
Oh and by the way, it should be “we @ Steelers” my friend.

Chill out dude. Twitter, Facebook, AOL, whatever… no mere trash talk comes close to Rodgers and that stupid pro-wrestling belt dance when it comes to rubbing it into the opponent’s face. (And don’t give me any crap about he doesn’t intend to — it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a taunt.) THAT will be a rallying point for the Steelers, believe me.

  53. vikescry1 says: Jan 30, 2011 6:18 PM

woodly should worry about his own business, him and his defense are going to have enough to deal with next sunday.

  54. rikker12 says: Jan 30, 2011 6:25 PM

First, if this is only issue leading up to super bowl week, then packer nation should be happy. Second, there is only one player really making a big stink about this and then going public with it……It shouldn’t reflect upon the whole team, and how there preparing for the game. Believe me, the Packers are not sitting at home worried about some dumb photo.

    @regulator1978 and ndinggeldein …

Seven guys on your team were accused of rape this summer. Roethlisberger is just as guilty as your players. If you’re stooping to that kind of smack, you must be more worried about the Steelers than I thought. Sad.

  60. ampatsisahypocrite says: Jan 31, 2011 12:51 AM

That’s right kennyrogerschicken, the Rogers thing IS “stupidity that happens in the end zone” AND is really annoying. Maybe YOU think it’s just “doing his thing” but you gotta be kidding… how is that NOT a rub-in to the other team?

    It’s taunting, dude, face facts.

  61. gpack17 says: Jan 31, 2011 8:00 PM

I love all the comments to the effect that “So and so should be preparing for the game instead of wasting time on Twitter.”

Sure, but it’s not like with two weeks to prepare for a game it takes a lot of time to log on and type 140 characters. It isn’t like a Packer or Steeler player’s going, “No coach, I’d love to practice, but I gotta go write my novel today.” Why, I’d be willing to bet that multiple players from both teams have watched TV, attended movies, even, (GASP!) gone out to eat in the last week.

I’ll bet one or two have even strummed a guitar after getting home from practice.

  62. steelernation1 says: Feb 1, 2011 1:30 PM

the packer players not in the photo are the ones who started all this not the media..its the medias job to take a story like that and run with it.if the players wouldnt have run there mouth it would never got out there..i think the players shoudlnt be aloud to tweet during the season period…and Woodleys comments are not bulletin board material…

woddsons comments are though saying they are going to white house is.saying they got super bowl won before they even win it…
