Despite some public hemming and hawing last week, Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward does not plan to retire after the Super Bowl.
Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette noted on Sunday that Ward has stated that he has no plans to retire “several times, including this past week.”
Ward said last year that he would retire if he could win a third Super Bowl ring. It seems that was just an emotional statement, and that Ward isn’t ready to give up the game he loves after another productive season.
Then again, maybe Ward is just trying to build more drama for a possible post-game declaration on the winning podium.
(Unfortunately, “The last stop for Hines Ward will be in Dallas” doesn’t have quite the same ring as Jerome Bettis’ line.)

Every team should have a Hines Ward.
Earth shattering report. . . Keep them coming. . . Do you have another Slam Ben article waiting in the wings. . . .
Hines Ward is (only) 34. He wants to get to 1000 receptions and 100 career TDs. He probably didn’t expect to get back to the Super Bowl so soon.
where did my comment go? there was nothing in it that was offensive?
PFT’s “live from the Super Bowl” week is off to a terrible start… These articles are basic, pointless and boring.
So it’s possible that Hines Ward will never retire? You know, since he may never win a 3rd ring…
No plans to retire, but he does plan to Whine Harder.

At his current rate it will take Ward 4 more years to get to 100 TDs. I do not see that happening.
Did anyone see Hines’ get-up when he got off the plane in Arlington? Black shirt, huge belt buckle and a cowboy hat! Classic!
Sure hope he doesnt, I’m still waiting to see the punk get punched just like Worthless-burger did!
@shakenblake1
PFT allows people to post comments accusing players of murder—and they stand—and they delete others that are rational
its amazing PFT—is a joke
When Ward runs it looks like he’s running in sand because he’s so slow.
He’s still a better blocker than any tight end not named Heath Miller or Todd Heap.
who cares….he is washed up anyway and has no impact on games anymore.
I hope when he does retire Tomlin finds a spot on the staff for him, he should be a Steeler for life.
Maybe he’s just smart enough to kill the talk so it doesn’t become a distraction. Maybe he’s not so confident that it will be a happy ending.
I’d bet he’s waiting for Benny to take him to one of his raves. Double up on the panties girls!
I love Hines. 100% hetero, but damn — I just LOVE how that guy brings it.
Never before. Never since. Never during. Hines is the ONLY wideout to repeatedly administer the heater like Hines does.
Seriously, I’m in love.
