How many games did Polamalu miss this year ?
Is there not an unwritten rule you have to play most of the games,,,did Troy miss 3 games ?
I think he is right..it is not right to give poty awards on team sports

reed is past his prime. polamalu made big plays and that was the difference. the atlanta pick, baltimore sack/fumble, and goal line plays locked it up for him this year. matthews is a one trick pony.

My team is greenbay. and we are blessed with mathews playing for us but I got to say that palamalu is a hell of a player and deserves the reward. They both do but you can only give it to one. And this guys been doing it for years. Clay,s time is coming and he’ll get his too. Great player,lots of heart and a hell of a hitter. I know if Im a QB I dont want become familier with either of these guys………………………….

Every one of those guys made a case, except Ed Reed. I was not impressed with him. Yeah 8 picks in ten games is ridiculous, but he was caught out of position more this year than he ever has been.

Puhhhhleeeese. Will stealer fans arrogance ever cease? Mathews, in one season in the pros (after only one season of starting in college) has become an elite player capable of taking games over. Marginalize him at your own risk.

Let’s not bring up SB XL – the debacle where the refs stole the Lombardi from Seattle. Makes you wonder when you have an owner that was involved with legalized gambling. It’s bad enough the Steelers are in it this year, with the Pittsburgh native ref handing them the game in Miami, and the Ravens handing them the game at Heinz. Let’s just hope this game is based on great play and not poor umpiring.

It must be hard for a truly great player and class act like Troy Polamalu to come to work every day surrounded by the other scum that wear the Black & Yellow (it is yellow dummies…it’s not gold).

He didn’t deserve this award…neither did Ed Reed. Matthews or Peppers woulda been my vote, as if it matters or anyone cares…

My uncle is a die-hard Steelers fan, and he goes to Steelers Training-Camp every year.

He watches all of the players roll into camp in their hummers, bmw’s, ect.

Polamalu, on the other hand, rocks a Honda Accord 4-door.

Matthews is a terrific young player, but it gets downplayed how much he benefits rushing the passer from Capers scheming to get him free runs and mismatches. He’s a player who shines within the scheme, whereas Polamalu transcends the scheme.

And really, if you want to look at an edge rusher, it’s not hard to argue that James Harrison would have been more deserving than Matthews. He (and Woodley opposite him) also benefit as 3-4 OLBs from blitz schemes, but he’s surely the same caliber of pass rusher as Matthews, he forces a lot more fumbles and is an absolute force against the run, too. A couple of extra sacks don’t really mean a whole lot, by comparison.

I’m hoping Clay buries big Ben and that Rodgers exploits Polamalu in coverage just to cement the fact that Clay was more deserving…..Polamalu is GREAT but Clay was just a beast this year…..

Who we drafting at 19th overall Giants? Thats what I care about at this point
