Monday night’s erroneous reports that Packers linebacker Clay Matthews had won the defensive player of the year award made their way to Matthews -- and then he got the news that Steelers safety Troy Polamalu had actually won.

But Matthews wasn’t too upset about it.

“It was pretty comical,” Matthews said. “I got about 15 texts saying congratulations and then the follow up 15 saying sorry that you lost.”

Matthews said the issue was only a minor annoyance during a week in which he’s focused on a bigger goal.

“It is what it is, bad reporting, whatever you want to call it,” Matthews said. “We have a great opportunity this Sunday to win a team award.”
