Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey was walking around without crutches or a boot on his sprained left ankle today, and he said he’s still optimistic that he can play in Super Bowl XLV.
Pouncey isn’t practicing, though, and he said he’ll need to practice by Friday to play on Sunday.
“If I’m not on the field Friday, most likely I’m not playing,” Pouncey said. “I’m not going to put the team in a bad position.”
Pouncey is sticking with his previous assessment that he has a 75 percent chance of playing.
“I feel positive,” Pouncey said. “I’m working to get my range of motion back, but it’s going good.”
Pouncey was one of only two Steelers listed on today’s injury report. The other was defensive end Aaron Smith, who was limited in practice with a triceps injury.
The Packers listed four players on the injury report: tackle Chad Clifton (knees), center Jason Spitz (calf) and linebacker Erik Walden (ankle) were limited in practice, while linebacker Frank Zombo (knee) was a full participant.
