It didn’t take long for Broncos Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway to be questioned about his readiness to run the Broncos’ football operation staff.

OK, so PFT was at the forefront of that criticism.

Thankfully, Elway still agreed to to come on Thursday to talk with Florio on PFT Live.   In the clip below, Elway talks about why he has the credentials necessary for the job.  After the jump, Elway gives his thoughts on the lockout and 18-game season now that he’s an executive rather than a player.

For the full interview, head over to the PFT Live homepage.

  1. Best of luck to you Denver fans.
Former players make great G.M.s. Take what Millen did for my Lions as example.
He unknowingly made it possible for us to draft Suh, so with that in mind, give it 7 years or so and you shall reap the rewards of a few 1rst round picks.

  2. Elway was an entertaining and good player to watch, however I doubt that someone who refused to accept to rules and refused to sign with the team that earned the right to draft him, has the nuanced scope to be succsesful in his new capacity, he does however have the ego for it !!!!!

  3. OK, I didn’t watch the video, but did the rookie Elway demand to be traded to another organization’s GM position or threaten to sit out to run another business, like he did that last time he was a rookie?

  4. I believe Elway will do his broncos well. Mr millen If I remeber played for the 49ers and was never inthreaded to the lions like Elway was to the Broncos. Elways carrer as a businessman will also help with running the Broncos front office.

No, because this time the business he explicitly told beforehand that he would not work for them did not try to foolishly call his bluff and hire him.

It will be interesting to to see if he fares better as a rookie this time around…
