Titans to interview Mularkey on Friday

The Titans received permission to interview Mike Mularkey for their head coaching vacancy on Wednesday.

They’ll formally interview the current Falcons offensive coordinator on Friday, according to Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean.

It’s worth noting that Wyatt’s Tennessean colleague, John Glennon, wrote in a Thursday morning blog post that Titans offensive line coach Mike Munchak “remains the favorite” to replace Jeff Fisher.

Should Munchak get the promotion, Wyatt mentions current Auburn defensive line coach Tracy Rocker as a possibility for the same position on Munchak’s staff. Fisher tried to hire Rocker after losing Jim Washburn to Philadelphia.

Rocker coached up potential 2011 No. 1 overall draft pick Nick Fairley at Auburn.

Mularkey is still thought to be on the outside looking in for the Tennessee job, mostly because owner Bud Adams is widely expected to make an in-house hire.
