Haynesworth charged with assault after road rage incident

Albert Haynesworth AP

An uncharacteristic stretch of quiet when it comes to Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has ended with a middle finger and a punch in the face.

Allegedly.

Tom Jackson of the Washington Post reports that Haynesworth has been charged with assaulting a 38-year-0ld man during an incident of road rage.

“This is the first I’m hearing about this,” Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie told Jason Reid of the Post. “At this time, we need to gather information.”

Technically, the alleged victim made a “non-verbal hand gesture” to Haynesworth, who allegedly was driving a pickup truck that was trailing the alleged victim’s car.

Allegedly.

At a stoplight, the driver who allegedly was Haynesworth got out of the truck and allegedly punched the alleged victim.

Allegedly.

Haynesworth is expected to surrender next week.

Allegedly.  Or actually.

Albert……I’m telling you…come west…you would look good in silver and black. You would dominate on a d-line with Seymour, Kelly, and Houston……..you will have fun wrecking havoc again, instead of being disrespected.

This guy is a piece of crap. Have never been a fan ever since his head stomping incident and always felt he was overrated. Hope no team takes a chance on him again. The guy has proven he’s a crappy person with anger issues over and over again..

Haynesworth is a (large) piece of garbage.

  8. network17 says: Feb 4, 2011 11:52 AM

I remember when this dirtbag stepped on the Cowbay’s head and then crying that he felt so terrible because he was, in fact, a good person. Albert is, in fact, a Scumbag.

Perfect case in point of why one should be careful about flipping the bird in traffic, as you never know what type of nut job is on the recieving end of your “non-verbal hand gesture”. With that said, Haynesworth is not just a spoiled, selfish man-child, he also is genuinely a bad guy. Good thing Haynesworth wasn’t wearing cleats, otherwise he might have yanked the guy out of his car and given him the Andre Gurode treatment.

Haynesworth’s ongoing antics likely means he will be out of the league in short order, as I am not sure what organization would be willing to take the risk of putting this immensely talented turd into their locker room.

  11. mrplow3 says: Feb 4, 2011 11:57 AM

Haynesworth is a repulsive piece fo trash, However I’m with him here.

How many times some Highway thug tries to bully you driving like a moron then flips you off.

I’ve come close on many occasions to mimicking Albert’s actions myself.

    He’s just living the dream.

  15. sj39 says: Feb 4, 2011 11:58 AM

Man, this guy better get in to the best shape of his life if he ever wants to play again. After watching him run out of gas trying to chase Vick down and just giving up if this latest is true the Skins will probably cut him. And how dysfunctional is this team? You have his whole situation, they trade valuable picks for a washed up McNabb and don’t want him any more. How much will they lose on just those two signing bonuses and how bad does it affect their cap? All that and it seems Shanahan has lost his mind. The Skins don’t mean much to me anymore (used to hate ‘em back in the day when my team was The Big Red of course) but what a calamity.

The 38 year old man was Dan Snyder. This is how he plans on recouping some of that guaranteed money he paid Fat Albert.

I’m a long-time die-hard Raider fan and I DON’T want this piece of crap on my team! Tom Cable spent his two years in Oakland as head coach getting rid of the malcontents and lazy mf-ers. NOW, you want to bring in a lazy, pouting, inconsistent, expensive, non-team player? He!!…might as well bring JaMarcus Russell back.

  21. apac6586 says: Feb 4, 2011 12:04 PM

What a waste of talent/a human being. He should be forced to work a real job for once. He may be the biggest piece of crap in the NFL.

  26. canesfan56 says: Feb 4, 2011 12:07 PM

It’s never a good idea to give someone the finger on the highway. Here in Fl however rushing a car at a stoplight is likely to leave the “rusher” with a 38 cal in his head.

You have to assume that if you flip off Albert Haynesworth in traffic you are going to get punched in the nose. Gotta love the tough guys that antagonize in the safe haven of theirs vehicles and then can’t throw down as the conflict they initiated comes to a head.

    ————————————————–
You must have fallen in the toilet right next to him. If you get flipped off on the road, 90% of the time you deserve it. It does not make assault acceptable. It really just makes you look like an even more ignorant fool…..deal with it and keep on driving or flip a bird right back, that’s how you handle it. Assault is against the law and if you’re willing to go to jail over getting flipped off then you’ve shown your intelligence right there.

  41. blizzard01 says: Feb 4, 2011 12:56 PM

I personally smile and wave at people that flip me off…it’s amazing how much more enraged they become at that point and it’s well worth knowing that you got some douche all worked up over nothing and helped give them a bad day…mess with their head, not their body!

  45. coseybedaman says: Feb 4, 2011 1:18 PM

I gotta be honest, if some scumbag walked up to my car at a red light, he would be staring down the barrel by the time he got to the vehicle.

  46. hendy59 says: Feb 4, 2011 1:19 PM

why would he risk losing so much over foolishness on the road. He still hasn’t matured enough to realize that if you feed into jerks on the roads you could get into jams daily. He hasn’t grown up yet and learned to refrain from reacting to common occurences on our roads. Alot of us feel that we don’t have alot to lose delving into temper tantrums and temptation to assault people who offend us on the roads but we all do have alot to lose. Our lives are at risk since we don’t know who is driving around with a loaded gun or youngsters with a chip or grudge and are looking for an easy target to vent their egotistical attitude and bad tempers on you or me who have had a bad week and may not be on guard to refrain from being baited in to react to these lunatics. I have come to accept with people constantly on the phone and being in a rush to go nowhere fast that all I can do is drive as defensive as possible and ignore the self centered fools and not to take their idiocy personally and to be thankful that I’ve managed to make it through the day in one peice. Before settilng out on my travels I remind myself that it isn’t worth getting all worked up and angry since I don’t get to my destination substantially quicker being in a haste. After paying out the rear in surcharges over my first 15 years on the road did I finally adopt an attitude of sanity and patience. Amen!!

  47. baddegg says: Feb 4, 2011 1:29 PM

When do you get to the point where you show us how this is Shanahan’s fault?

  48. natelan says: Feb 4, 2011 1:30 PM

I always give these guys their due presumption of innocense until convicted. I wish everyone would refrain from calling him and other players guilty, based solely on a single report, which has yet to be acknowledged or confirmed.

I’m not saying he’s innocent, just that we shouldn’t assume he’s guilty.

If you feel the need to trash Haynesworth for his horrible attitude and poor decisions, let’s call him out for stomping on another person’s face with football cleats… At least that one we can confirm with video evidence.

  49. turk2875 says: Feb 4, 2011 1:32 PM

goodjet says: “Haynesworth is the dumbest player in the NFL, period (Allegedly) —– And it’s not like there isn’t plenty of competition”

    ———————————–

Actually, that’s not true. Go read his interviews. Try finding the long piece he did about the fallout in Tennessee with his head stomping incident. The guy is more articulate than nearly every other player in the league. He’s definately NOT dumb. But he has some kind of problem that has nothing to do with intellect, and that’s what makes all the stories about him hard to figure out. He’s smart – way too smart to be doing what he does. The problem is something else, something harder to pin down.

  51. coseybedaman says: Feb 4, 2011 1:43 PM

Hendy I totally agree. The best feeling in the world on the road (and it happens virtually every time), is when you will see an absolute maniac cutting in and out of traffic, narrowly escaping an accident each time. About ten minutes passes by, and you have forgotten about the nut job by now. You look over in your vehicle, and you see yourself passing that exact car that was in a hurry, risking his life, and everyone else’s on the road. It never fails

  52. deadmanwalking47 says: Feb 4, 2011 1:57 PM

    I HATE tailgaters.

I will also say that if I saw him coming at me in an aggressive manner, he would not be here today. Being that big, I would not have taken any chances, and he would have been shot.

  54. rafterman1957 says: Feb 4, 2011 3:27 PM

I’m no fan of Haynesworth, but having lived in NOVA for 25 years, it’s EASY to see how this could happen.

Road rage here is out of control because the traffic here is off the hook.

The local authorities refuse to seriously address the issue as other states have. New Jersey passed their left lane for passing only law years ago, NOVA is really behind the curve.
