An uncharacteristic stretch of quiet when it comes to Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has ended with a middle finger and a punch in the face.

Allegedly.

Tom Jackson of the Washington Post reports that Haynesworth has been charged with assaulting a 38-year-0ld man during an incident of road rage.

“This is the first I’m hearing about this,” Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie told Jason Reid of the Post. “At this time, we need to gather information.”

Technically, the alleged victim made a “non-verbal hand gesture” to Haynesworth, who allegedly was driving a pickup truck that was trailing the alleged victim’s car.

Allegedly.

At a stoplight, the driver who allegedly was Haynesworth got out of the truck and allegedly punched the alleged victim.

Allegedly.

Haynesworth is expected to surrender next week.

Allegedly. Or actually.
