Redskins owner Dan Snyder made the rounds at radio row in Dallas Friday, a surprising occurrence for an owner with a famously antagonistic relationship with the media.
Snyder said he was encouraged to to be more media friendly Washington’s Senior Vice President and P.R. chief Tony Wyllie.
“He made me do this because he’s gotten the chance to know me over the last year intimately,” Snyder told a group of reporters Friday, including PFT. “And he said ‘I want everybody to know you.’''
He wound up having second thoughts about the media blitz.
"[Wyllie] twisted my arm,” Snyder said with a laugh. “Last night, I was going, ‘I was just kidding about agreeing to it. I ‘m not going. I was with Jerry Jones, we were having a good ol’ time. I was going, ‘I’m not going.’ [Wyllie] said, ‘No, you promised.’”
Snyder believes he’s improved as an owner. As proof, he cites his willingness to let Mike Shanahan and G.M. Bruce Allen handle the Albert Haynesworth situation without going crazy.
“Their style is their style. I’m not going to micromanage them,” Snyder said. " I’m 46 years old now and I think I’ve matured into a good, quality owner. I was 34 years old when I bought the club, and I probably would be different. Right now, I’ve learned, I understand.”

On Donovan McNabb: “I’m hopeful. . . . He’s a real good player. Let’s see what happens.”
On what the Redskins will do with McNabb: “I don’t [Allen and Shanahan] have a clue which way they are going with anything yet.”
On Albert Haynesworth as a business investment: “I’m disappointed.”
Snyder indicated the team wants a new training facility and ideally it would be closer to their stadium. 2012 is the earliest that would happen.
Finally Snyder supported Dallas as a future Super Bowl site, but couldn’t help but throw in a jab about it: “I love it here in Fargo.”
