Everson Griffen cancels party; blames NFL

A day after USC banned players from attending a Las Vegas party thrown by Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen, the party itself has been canceled.

Griffen blames the cancellation on the NFL, but Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.com reports the Vikings are believed to have stepped in put a top to the event.  Here’s what Griffen wrote on his Facebook page:

“this event is cancled sorry for the confusion and mass text,” Griffen wrote.  “the NFL has made the decision this event has got to much media coverage and we are not allowed to bus people to Vegas ..”

Griffen says he was trying to start his “promotions” company, but the Vikings can’t be happy with his timing.  Griffen has been arrested twice in the last week — for public intoxication on Saturday and felony battery.  It was later determined he wouldn’t be charged for a felony, but still faces misdemeanor charges.

  1. I’ll have to admit … this guy is rapidly becoming my favorite Viking! And it’s only February … I can hardly wait to see what he does next.

Maybe Everson can start his promotional company a little closer to home … by arranging bus tours from the Twin Cities … to the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field.

I suspect there are hordes of Minnesota people who are just dying to get a close-up view of what a bunch of actual Super Bowl trophies really look like. This could be a once in a lifetime experience for them.

Plus, they could purchase their Favre jerseys in the original green and gold! *There might still be some Longwell ones lying around one of the two pro shops as well !!!

  2. It isn’t surprising that the moron spent 3-4 years at USC only to come out of college and not be able to put together a sentence with obvious grammatical mistakes that the average 7th grader shouldn’t be making.

I say the NFL should allow him to have his party… because after he wears out his welcome in Minnesota and no other team cares how talented he is because he stinks and he can’t find a job, he’ll need to be able to fall back on something. And he’s not getting a job as a writer… that is unless Rosenthall leaves PFT and there’s an opening for a writer with poor grammar/spelling/writing skills.

  3. How bad is the stench coming from the Twin Cities? It’s so bad it’s stinking up Super Bowl weekend all the way down in Texas.

As a proud Packer fan, I can honestly say that I am happy that dysfunctional organization is a member of the NFC North. That’s gonna be an easy two wins for a lot of years down the road.

    Everson Griffen – huzzah!

    GO PACK GO!

  4. The NFL did not and can’t cancel his party. The NFL can’t even keep it’s inter office memo info from reaching the press, how could they cancel a party they had nothing to do with in organizing. What a joke.

  5. What promotion company?…..Call it what it is. It’s just a party that jock sniffers pay money to go to, and you cash in for doing nothing….

  6. Arrested TWICE in the last week, and this chucklehead still doesn’t realize that it’s probably not a good idea to have this party?

Moron is too good a term for this doosh.

  7. To hobbstweedle, you are exactly the reason alot of people want the Steelers to win. Packer fans are a bunch of sore winners with absolutely no class. You dumb asses even gripe about your coach not being good enough.
Go back under your rock and drink your paint thinner you complete moron. Go Steelers.

  8. An add to my post, Mike McCarthy should have gotten the Coach of the Year award, hands down. His team did not get out coached in the playoffs.

The loud ones are usually heard but not necessarily a true representation of the actual fans of a team.
