If you were a cop as you claim, you should be able to understand basic evidentiary findings. The Nevada woman was years older than Roethlisberger. They had a one-night stand and she texted people she wanted to see him again. That means the sex was consensual. In addition, the time stamps and content of her text messages conflict w/the timeline and content of her account of the “assault”–all of which I’ve read for myself. End of story.

Your feelings about the age difference between Roethlisberger and the Georgia woman are irrelevant. Didn’t you read about the Duke student who posted online her sex “thesis” reviewing 13 unsuspecting partners? Like it or not, a lot of young women screw their way through college and compete with each other for who can have sex in the most public places like bars and bathrooms. And a woman who would actually go out for the evening wearing a DTF pin–which she happily translates for a group of men as “Down to F***”–might well fall into that category. We know from witnesses at three establishments she was drinking heavily that night, purchasing her own alcohol using a fake ID. We know that
she pursued him, she engaged him in graphic sexual dialogue, she invited him back to her place. He refused. But he did go w/her to the bathroom for some consensual something that lasted less than 10 minutes. Witnesses refuted the claim of the bodyguard blocking the door and that story also conflicted with her written statement. Earlier Ben had personally thrown her friend out of the party for ragging him about his rape lawsuit. That friend is the one who dragged her to police and screamed she’d been raped, which she denied and the one who invented the bodyguard story. The accuser alleged only vaginal rape and the medical exam refuted that claim.

It doesn’t matter that Roethlisberger was accused twice since the evidence clearly shows both accusations were false.

It’s never been proved Favre sent those photos. But if he did, we know Sterger didn’t complain. And we know she showed them to friends “for laughs.” If a man had gotten photos of a woman’s genitalia and showed them to male friends “for laughs,” we’d be appalled by his behavior. We know he sent two texts making sexual propositions–they were not “predatory” messages. When a man propositions you and you aren’t interested, the typical response is “no.” Predators don’t ask.

With Sanchez, the girl’s family attorney has said nothing untoward is happening and told Deadspin to stop harassing her. You have no reason to believe she is a victim.

Celebrities attract a lot of false allegations. And I’m too familiar with real predators, rapists, and abusers–and their victims–to be impressed with nonsense. As I said, all it takes to convince me a man is a predator, is evidence he’s preyed on someone. We haven’t seen that evidence in any of these cases. If you were a cop, you should be able to look at these situations objectively and recognize them for what they are. If you want to champion something worthwhile, plenty of real victims could use your help. The Andrea McNultys, DTFs, and Jenn Stergers of the world neither needs it nor deserve it.

Ben gets accused by two different women of sexual assault. His “best case” defense is that a 28 year old NFL quarterback has some form of “consensual” sexual contact in a dirty barroom bathroom with a 20 year old co-ed.

Brett Favre send pictures of his private parts to a Jets employee and sends predatory texts to her and three massage therapists who do work for the team.

Now there is some sort of relationship – sexual or not – between a 24 year old NFL quarterback and a 17 year old high school senior.A guy who was accused of rape while in college.

Yeah, “innocent” men. Happens to every team’s quarterback, right?

What does an NFL quarterback have to do before you start questioning his character, Deb?

Oh rich … did you miss the part about the girl’s attorneys contacting Deadspin and saying there’s no story here and demanding that Deadspin stop harassing their client?

This is just more of the same old/same old gossip and innuendo. I have no idea what Sanchez’s relationship is with that girl … and neither do you. But she is over the age of consent in New York, so it’s no one’s business. If she were my daughter, I wouldn’t want her dating someone that age. But she’s not, and since her attorneys are telling Deadspin to back off, clearly her family feels the matter is under control.

Stop trying to paint all these innocent men as monsters. If you want to help people, there are plenty of real monsters out there and plenty of real victims. They’re not trying to extort money from NFL players or getting their jollies with their sorority sisters leading cops on wild goose chases.

To the Seinfeld comparer: Seinfeld is creepy for doing that. Creepier than Sanchez. But…is someone more or less trustworthy than another person because one steals $5 from you and one $100? Nope, they are both thieves. Statutory rape isn’t a crime of varying degrees like manslaughter is.

Except it is NOT statutory rape, and people really need to stop saying it is. Statutory rape has a specific legal definition, and according to the laws of New York (and the picture was allegedly taken from within Sanchez’s house) this is not statutory rape.

This girl is of legal consenting age, which isn’t even an issue because there has been no accusation of sexual conduct (only sleezy innuendo from the Deadspin writers). Furthermore, the girl has hired a lawyer in an attempt to prevent the article from coming out, saying that the photos Deadspin obtained were done so illegally. She is not claiming to be a victim and not charging Sanchez with anything.

If Sanchez had assaulted her, if she had been younger then 17, if Sanchez had some sort of employer/teacher relationship over her, then there would be an issue. However none of those things are true and the righteous outrage displayed here is out of place.

How can you compare this to big ben? That was rape!

Morally wrong or not, WHO CARES?! This is not a story. So he dated a 17-year old. Whoopie! As an NFL fan, I really could care less who any of these guys date. You can debate the morality, say you wouldn’t want your daughter near him, I frankly wouldn’t want my kid near ANY football players these days, but WHO REALLY CARES!
