Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards may have bigger names, but linebacker David Harris is the bigger offseason priority for the Jets.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Jets plan to use its franchise tag on Harris, rather than the receivers.
The news doesn’t come as a surprise: We passed along a report that Harris and cornerback Antonio Cromartie will take precedence over the wideouts.
Since the Jets have said they don’t plan to re-sign anyone before March, Harris will get the tag. It’s possible they could work out a long-term deal with Harris after a new collective bargaining agreement is signed, but the opportunity to use the tag will likely be gone.
Of course, we’re just guessing with most free agency rules in this strange years. The teams are guessing too.

Where is Rex to proclaim he’s the BEST ILB EVER!!
Mr. T probably told him to shut it so they won’t have to pay him as much.
Harris is a very good LB. He’s much better than that clown Bart Scott, and as far as I know, he doesn’t make as many headlines with stupid comments. He’s probably the only Jets player I like.
Who cares…after watching him run after that Brady INT…he has to be the slowest LB I have ever seen.
