Super Bowl XLV sets only one record

Thailand Super Bowl Football Reax

A constant stream of Dunder Mifflin’s finest products is being distributed in the press box at Cowboys Stadium, and we’ve now received a list of the Super Bowl records, as compiled by the Elias Sports Bureau.

As it turns out, only one record was set — fewest combined rushing attempts, with 36.  The Packers ran the ball 13 times, and the Steelers ran the ball 23 times.

Several other records were tied:  most Super Bowls (Steelers tied Cowboys at eight); fewest turnovers by a team (Packers with zero tied 17 others); most points in first quarter by a team (Packers with 14 tied six others); largest lead at end of first quarter (Packers with 14 tied Dolphins in Super Bowl VIII and Raiders in Super Bowl XV); fewest first downs by penalty, both teams (zero, tying five other Super Bowls); fewest rushing attempts for winning team (Packers with 13 tied the Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV), most two-point conversions (Antwaan Randle El with one tied five others).

Also, the Packers have now won 13 NFL titles, the most of any team.  Green Bay receiver Jordy Nelsn’s 140 receiving yards broke Max McGee’s franchise Super Bowl record (138) from the first Super Bowl ever played.

The Packers also became the first time in NFL history to score a touchdown on an interception return in three straight postseason games.

what your problem @jimmysmith? you really were the kid in high school that everyone made fun of weren’t you. good job pack, i was rooting for the steelers but oh well. good game.

  7. refsburgh says: Feb 6, 2011 11:23 PM

Well there’s no evidence of McGee being at a piano bar the week of the Super Bowl

  8. gdeli says: Feb 6, 2011 11:25 PM

That’s a low blow jimmysmith. Yes, 50 year of the vikes and jack squat. The vikes get to face the pack twice next year. Oh joy. Now we have 1 year of having to hear to their crap(downrated to pg for this). But we don’t have to listen! packers still suck but rodgers is diserving for putting up with farve’s crap. Too many turnovers steelers! damn.

  9. nokoolaidcowboy says: Feb 6, 2011 11:26 PM

Steeler fans now have learned it is not true that it is better to have played and lost then to not have played at all.

  10. hobartbaker says: Feb 6, 2011 11:27 PM

The only discordant note was sounded by the 850 fans who paid $900 each to sit on toilet seats during the game. “It wasn’t great”, admitted one ticketholder, “but you could follow the roar of the crowd, and ask the next person who came in what happened.”.

really Jimmy? Your team just won the SUPER BOWL, and you are so petty and childish that you cant help yourself from making some lame ass joke about the vikings.

BTW you officially prove you have no life if you aren’t out celebrating with friends and fellow fans 30 minutes after a SB win.

    pathetic.

  12. 11wheatd says: Feb 6, 2011 11:28 PM

Hahaha JimmySmith, as a Packer fan, I am flattered that you somehow bring up the Vikings even though the Packers won. You must either have that much of a special love/hate that you cant make a post without including them..haha your team has just won the Super Bowl and your first thought its the Vikings.

    PATHETIC dude.

    You truly are.

    P.S. Get a life.

wrong. actually that record was set in the 2011 afc championship game. 2 rapists played qb in that game. you’re welcome.

  16. hooterdawg says: Feb 6, 2011 11:34 PM

Even if Aguilera didn’t mess up the lyrics, her version of the song absolutely sucked. I felt embarrassed for her.

Fox didn’t get the record for worst audio ever in a Superbowl halftime show?

    or

Worst use of an ex-head of NFL officials in a broadcast booth ever?

  23. 85bears4life says: Feb 7, 2011 12:05 AM

Not really I noticed she has a three year old son and yet she still looks fat.

Thumbs up if you’d still hit that.

    Wasn’t Max McGee a drunk?

Max McGee was actually drunk, or at least seriously hungover. He wasn’t expecting to play until Boyd Dowler couldn’t go because of injury.

Great game. Great team. Go Pack. Best franchise in the NFL.

The Steelers are an excellent team. Other than their QB they’re a class organization. The Rooneys are top of the line when it comes to owners. Mike Tomlin is an excellent coach.

End of the day, a Green Bay Packer dynasty has begun.

  28. techvet says: Feb 7, 2011 12:38 AM

Also, the Packers set a team record for most points off turnovers (21).

  29. mkepackfan says: Feb 7, 2011 12:38 AM

Best thing? Jerruh didn’t get his attendance record, even while cheating with charging people to watch a TV outside on a plaza.

  30. stampnhawk says: Feb 7, 2011 1:24 AM

Too bad for JJ and his attendance…saw an article where attendance included 12K accredited league and team officials, and media.

That has to be a record.

The Steelers ran the ball “ONCE” too many times!

  34. surshot says: Feb 7, 2011 5:49 AM

Should be a record for most injuries in a super bowl. What kind of turf does the stadium have. Another Jerry Jones mess up

  35. jpmelon says: Feb 7, 2011 8:12 AM

I know that steeler fans will never stop whining…..but hopefully we won’t have to hear about Harrison’s or Ward’s opinion on subjects for a while now that they lost.

Thank you Steelers for beating the Jets.
Thank you Packers for beating the Steelers.

To err is human — yes; but to flub the words of The National Anthem just CAN’T happen!! How totally disrpectful!!

This, aside from the fact that Christina Aguilara’a stylist should be fired – her hair look totally fried from processing, it’s white and lipstick was way, way to heavy and bright red, she looked like a bodello madam who let hair down and put on a skirt suit to try to look conservative. On this and ever talk show she goes on…she looks very slutty. Look at her and her dress vs. Lea Michele.

I am not Packers fan, but amSO GLAD they won.

Green Bay won every game they won by their PLAY! The Steerlers are a good, solid, football team but their play didn’t give them a 12 game winning record.

In the 2nd game againt the Ravens – Troy Polomolu won for them…not the team. Against the Dolphins the refs made that incredibly bogus call which gave them the win …the team didn’t win it. And in the play-offs, the Ravens gift-wrapped and handed them the game. The Steelers WILL capitalize on a teams mistake and can score off them but again….the team didn’t create the mistakes to win. A gift….again.

The only important thing is that Pittsburgh lost…

  39. pervyharvin says: Feb 7, 2011 9:44 AM

  40. bspurloc says: Feb 7, 2011 10:05 AM

    .
would have been a way better game if Aguilera had a wardrobe malfunction….

What was up with Hines Ward shaking like he was about to burst out bawling during the anthem?

Odd William Gay was crying during the Anthem do you think it was because the words were messed up or because he Loves this country so much?

  41. lgbarn says: Feb 7, 2011 10:06 AM

There was one more record set…Worst Superbowl halftime show ever. Whoever came up with the idea to have the Black-eyed Peas should be fired. They could dig Michael Jackson out of the ground and it would be better than that. I guess we will never see another performance like Prince ever again.

  42. cardiovascularendurance says: Feb 7, 2011 10:10 AM

sdisme- This year’s halftime audio certainly wasn’t great, but it was much, much better than last year’s.

  44. JSpicoli says: Feb 7, 2011 11:39 AM

Yeah, the record for most degenerate losers who can’t carry a tune or remember “Row, Row Row your Boat” complaining about a flub in the anthem.

I mean, I get it, she choked, but apologized, and the girl can sing. Give her a break.
