@ kcjohnson2

First, it was the Colts who complained about how the Pats roughed up their receivers and wanting an emphasis put on the interference rules so that THEY could benefit. So, you are arguing that the Pats benefit from the "new" emphasis on the interference rule after they were the reason the emphasis on the rule was implemented? Yeah, OK.

The "tuck rule"? That rule was in the rule book already. The Pats didn't make it up. The refs called the play as it is described in the rule book (just so we are clear, as a Pats fan, I thought it was a fumble, but not according to the rules apparently). When interviewed after the game, Walt Coleman, the ref for the game, said that as soon as he saw the replay, he knew that the ruling on the field was WRONG and that he had to reverse the call because of the tuck rule.

The "Brady Rule"? What's that? Tom Brady doesn't have the authority to change the rules. Only the owners do. Apparently, the owners don't want their star players missing seasons due to questionable hits. Now, I think a lot of the roughing the passer penalties are real weak, but shots to the knees are not. It was a good rule to implement. A lot of rules are implemented because of incidents that happen on the field. There's the "Warren Sapp" rule from his hit on the GB lineman after a turnover. There's the "Hines Ward" rule from his hit on Keith Rivers. And, now this "Brady" rule. Brady didn't lobby for the rule, so stop using this LAME argument.

Plus, you brought up spygate, so you actually have nothing to say, really. So, 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct for you.

I hate to bring this up, but after Brady winning MVP unanimously and seeing what I saw in Dallas, I simply have to.

What I saw in Dallas is that on the side of the stadium, there's a huge image of Aaron Rodgers representing the Packers. And representing the Steelers? Troy Polamalu, not Ben Roethlisberger. I know Polamalu won Defensive Player of the Year, which is great. He's a great player. But, if anyone wants to argue that Ben belongs in the same sentence as Brady and Manning, shouldn't he be on the side of the stadium at the Super Bowl? I know it's trivial, but somehow I believe that if the Pats or Colts were there that it would be Brady or Manning on the side of the stadium.

Again, I know that's trivial, but I'm just sayin'. If he's such a "no brainer" then he should be on the billboard as it were.

I am huge Pats fan, so I'm happy for all of these awards, however, I would be much happier watching the Pats play tonight. They have a bright future, still. They have a young D that is still learning and some great drafts ahead and they can retool the team completely. Maybe even draft a QB to learn under Brady within the next few years, like Rodgers got to do with Favre. Well, except that Brady would actually help out his understudy.

shadowgm1 says:

So, I guess sportswriters really do like the taste of this girly boy’s salty drop-hole.

THESE AP AWARDS ARE OBVIOUSLY MEANINGLESS, MUCH LIKE PRO BOWL VOTING, THE HOF INDUCTEES LISTS AND COLLEGE AWARDS.

The press is stupid, evidentally.

Peyton Manning 450 of 679 (66.3) for 4,700 yards, 33 TDS, 17 INT, 3 FUM (1 lost)

Tom Brady 324 of 492 (65.9%) for 3,900 yards, 36 TDS, 4 INT, 3 FUM (1 lost)

Manning was clearly the MVP, with all the losses they suffered offensively he still threw for 800 more yards and a better completion percentage, aside from the obvious fact that Manning was leaned on more and delivered. A unanimous vote for the “Boston Gangler” shows that no one with an AP vote clearly gave a damn. Boston fans should be chering this isn’t up as a fan vote.

_______________________________

Why are you conveniently leaving out the fact that Manning threw over FOUR TIMES the amount of interceptions that Brady did? Or that Brady threw three more touchdowns?

Manning's completion percentage is higher by .4% yet his percentage of touchdowns to interceptions is over 50% whereas Brady's is 11%.

You mention all the losses the Colts suffered this year. Isn't it obvious Manning contributed to these losses just like in last year's Super Bowl?

Please, get educated about the game before you spout off. You're looking exactly like what you accused the press of being.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the 2006 Bears were probably the worst Superbowl opponent in history, he might still be in Dan Marino land.

I didn't realize, teams got to pick their SB opponent??? Or did you forget that Peyton totally dismantled New England in the AFC Championship???

Yes, When Brady needed Adam Viniteri to save his a$$ against..........JAKE DELHOMME AND THE CARLOLINA PANTHERS!!!!! AND WHAT ABOUT THE IGGLES????? NOT EXACLTY THE 85 BEARS GIESELE HAD TO GO UP AGAINST!!!

“I wish we were playing today, but the Steelers and Packers are more deserving. They both were able to overcome B-/C+ stretches from their QBs in the playoffs while the Pats needed Brady to be at an A- to A+ at almost all times to to win.”

Brady is a system QB and the System works wonders. Look at Cassell. The Patriots are running an NFL spread offense. If Kolb was in that offense he would have been MVP as a matter of fact ANY starting QB in this league could do the exact same thing Brady is doing in that system. Brady’s #’s this year have been straight YAC.

So you're smarter than all the other NFL head coaches????

I mean you must be if "ANY" QB in the league could do the exact sane thing, why dont other teams run it??

Some of you people are ridiculous. Im not even a Pats fan and there was no way anyone else in this league should have gotten an MVP vote this year besides Brady. No one had a better year and he played with a less than stellar WR group to say the least.

Im actually surprised I havent seen anyone try to play the predictable and pathetic race card angle and make a case for Vick. Some people make a case for Manning which is absurd given his 3 game stretch where he launched 11 INT's.

Patriots had a young defense, and a huge distraction at the beginning of the year with Moss. They dumped their best WR and played better because of the excellence shown by Brady. I hate the Patriots, but I give credit where its due. This was one of the greatest seasons by a QB in the history of football.

38
------

Yeah that was a real MVP year for Manning,
Especially that 3 game stretch when he threw 11 INT'S!!!
Oh but I'm sure none of them were his fault, the WR must have been in the wrong.

Another key fact the Manning apologist always leave out, he plays 8 or 9 games a year INSIDE!! Perfect condition.

Brady played in a snow storm vs the Bears and threw for almost 370 yards and 4 TD.
But it must have been the "system"

It indeed seems odd that Brady is the MVP and Belichick is the Coach of the Year in the same season. Something doesn’t compute. One or the other could be indispensible to the teams success, but BOTH? If there was a System QB of the Year Award, it seems that Brady would win that for his Coach of the Year.

————————————————————-

Well said, Brady is a press pumped overrated version of a system quarterback. I love hearing people say, “if there was one guy to have at QB, it’s Tom Brady”. Do it, and everyone will see how much “talent” this drone has. I’m having a hard time seeing how Belichick beat out someone like McCarthy (incidentally, no votes at all) who dealt with insurmountable injuries to reach today’s game.

I guess today may really be the definition of “having the last laugh”.

01
-------
Again lame!!!

First let's start with the obvious , EVERY QB plays in a system.
Joe Montana played in the west coast "system" pretty much the same "system" the patriots run.
Does that mean he was overrated too?

It's the coaches job to put his players in a "system"
That gets the best of there ability.

When Brady throws a 20 yard out is that the "system" or ability ??

I have said it in previous post and I'll say it again ,
How is it that all these former players are wrong about him??

…and simultaneously becomes the most overrated player in NFL history.

Brady benefits from the new pass interference rules more than any other QB since the Pats run so many pick plays. Don’t forget about the “Tom Brady rule” and the “tuck rule”.

Brady hasn’t won a Super Bowl since the Pats stopped filming the other team’s signals. In fact, they haven’t been the same team since. Funny how the media completely ignores this.

What is really funny is how idiots like you cannot get past something that so many past players and coaches have publically stated at least million times it gave them no advantage.

Your hatred is totally blinding you to the fact the guy is one of the very best to play the game.

I can understand why people hate another player but dude there comes a time to just shut up, you are embarrassing yourself.

kcjohnson2 says: …and simultaneously becomes the most overrated player in NFL history.

Why don't you just make the headline "kcjohnson2 - anonymous PFT gadfly - thinks he knows more about football than all the NFL football writers combined."

You can go on and on about "cheating" all you want but clearly the NFL writers - not Patriots fans - UNANIMOUSLY agreed that Brady was the MVP of an injury beset team in the midst of a rebuilding project which still managed to have the best record in the NFL

The football writers no doubt understand that George Halas, Lamar Hunt, George Allen, and likely every coach going back to the 1950s has engaged in the similar tactics to Belichick

Belichick didn't start this - and its still going on today as evidenced by the coordinators of every team in the league in every game covering their mouth when calling in plays

Try to learn a bit more about the game you claim to be an expert in - until then I think the NFL made the right call in denying kcjohnson2 the right to choose the NFL MVP

You can go on and on about “cheating” all you want but clearly the NFL writers – not Patriots fans – UNANIMOUSLY agreed that Brady was the MVP of an injury beset team in the midst of a rebuilding project which still managed to have the best record in the NFL

The football writers no doubt understand that George Halas, Lamar Hunt, George Allen, and likely every coach going back to the 1950s has engaged in the similar tactics to Belichick

Belichick didn’t start this – and its still going on today as evidenced by the coordinators of every team in the league in every game covering their mouth when calling in plays

Try to learn a bit more about the game you claim to be an expert in – until then I think the NFL made the right call in denying kcjohnson2 the right to choose the NFL MVP
