Three throws defined Rodgers’ performance

Sometimes the Super Bowl isn’t won on the big touchdown pass. Sometimes it’s won on a third-and-10 in your own territory, with your defense falling apart, your lineman struggling to hold up, and your receivers dropping passes.

Aaron Rodgers’ third down throw to Greg Jennings with just under six minutes left was the best low-percentage throw in a night full of them. For my post-game column on NBCSports.com, I focused on three throws that will help Rodgers’ performance on Sunday night grow in Super Bowl lore over the years.

Sometimes, good defense just isn’t enough and football is not always about offensive playcalling.

On a night when Ben Roethlisberger’s accuracy was up-and-down, Rodgers’ ability to complete the difficult pass was a huge difference.
