Horton hears a job offer from the Cowboys

R. Horton

Just minutes after a radio report surfaced in Arizona that the Cardinals were ready to hire Steelers secondary coach Ray Horton as their coordinator, there is news that Horton has a job offer with the Cowboys.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reports Horton has left to take a position with the Cowboys, presumably under coordinator Rob Ryan.  (UPDATE: La Canfora has corrected his initial report, saying Horton has an offer on the table from both the Cowboys and  Cardinals.)  We mentioned earlier that there were conflicting reports about the Arizona hire.

The Cardinals reportedly requested permission to speak with Horton, Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler, and Packers inside linebackers coach Winston Moss.    Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic has confirmed the Steelers denied the Cardinals permission to speak with Butler.

UPDATE II: Somers says there’s “no way” Horton is going to the Cowboys.  He’s scheduled to interview with the Cardinals on Wednesday.  Horton is expected to take the job in Arizona.

Dallas is going to be hillarious to watch this year. Fat slob Ryan on the sideline and Jerry pacing in front of him with his ringed hand up on his chin so that cameras can catch a glimmer of it.

So what exactly are you reporting? Best option here might be to pull this post. No need in reporting news, that isn’t news, and updates us about more non-news.

    Love the site!!!

There’s no way, because who would take a position coaching role over a DC role??

Brilliant title, Gregg. Good job bringing a chuckle on a mundane Tuesday afternoon.

Horton can’t go to dallas because its not a promotion. Unless they fire rob ryan and hire him he can’t go there.

Nothing to see here. The Steelers secondary sucked, therefore so will the Cowboys or Cardinals or whoever hears a Horton.

Actually, this move goes in the “W” column for Pittsburgh.
But don’t let that slow you from bad mouthing every team you can’t beat.

Steeler fans… that’s because your CB’s suck! Jenkins and Newman are waaay better than what you have on your defense! Dallas needs Safety help more than anything.

Of course Somers is saying there’s “no way” he goes to Dallas! He’s a writer for the ARIZONA REPUBLIC!

Not true. They can name him co-DC or assist.-HC…it’s called a loophole…and every NFL team uses it…
