Today’s news that the Minnesota Court of Appeals says the NFL can suspend two Vikings defensive linemen for taking a product called StarCaps has one of the two just wishing the long ordeal would come to an end.
“I just want it to be over,” Pat Williams told the Pioneer Press. “If I lose, I lose. I’m not mad at anybody. Right now, I want it to be over because it’s cost me so much money, close to $1 million [in legal fees]. It ain’t cheap. . . . The only person getting anything out of keeping on fighting is the lawyers.”
It’s not clear, however, whether it is over, or whether Kevin Williams and Pat Williams will choose to take the appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Even if Pat Williams is done fighting, Kevin Williams could decide to keep the case alive. Kevin Williams hasn’t commented today.
The Williamses tested positive for the banned substance during training camp of 2008. If there are no further appeals, it appears they would be suspended for the first four games of the 2011 regular season.
