Pat Williams: I just want it to be over

Pat Williams

Today’s news that the Minnesota Court of Appeals says the NFL can suspend two Vikings defensive linemen for taking a product called StarCaps has one of the two just wishing the long ordeal would come to an end.

I just want it to be over,” Pat Williams told the Pioneer Press. “If I lose, I lose. I’m not mad at anybody. Right now, I want it to be over because it’s cost me so much money, close to $1 million [in legal fees]. It ain’t cheap. . . . The only person getting anything out of keeping on fighting is the lawyers.”

It’s not clear, however, whether it is over, or whether Kevin Williams and Pat Williams will choose to take the appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court. Even if Pat Williams is done fighting, Kevin Williams could decide to keep the case alive. Kevin Williams hasn’t commented today.

The Williamses tested positive for the banned substance during training camp of 2008. If there are no further appeals, it appears they would be suspended for the first four games of the 2011 regular season.

Pat later amended his statement to “the only persons getting anything out of keeping on fighting is the lawyers and a former lawyer.”.

Easier said than done, have you ever been represented by a lawyer with stars in their eyes? Their drive is relentless.

So, these guys could be equated to a rapist in terms of punishment for taking a banned substance? Doesn’t quite seem right to me.

Pat got carried away with the estrogen masking agents and is expecting twins in April.

It’s a good thing they’ve fought this long.

If they missed 4 games last year, the Vikings may not have reached their full potential.

Hey, some would say that Kevin and Fat Pat took 16 games off last season, so what’s another 4?

At this point, the most effective punishment the NFL can deal out is to make the guy play for the last place Vikings.
