I know you done understand this so ill spell it out for you, Katrina was the worst natural disaster in U.S. history. There are still whole neighborhoods missing, flat slabs of concrete where peoples homes and memories used to be. The amount of physical damage that was done couldnt possibly be done in 6 years (those of us who gutted houses in lakeview bc there weren’t any jobs right after the storm know how overwhelming it was). There’s still homes that are gutted to the studs. So if its so easy why dont u come and do it for us Tex. Bc we ALL know how you ppl in TX “do the job right the first time” as we all saw with your scoreboard when your new stadium opened….didnt really think about a football being kicked in the air when yall put that plan together. so to conclude I seriosuly cant fathom how some of you ppl are taking lightly or even making fun of Katrina… its not a joke and its not a football issue. Peoples lives were lost and our state and national goverment failed us (do you not realize how scary that is when your national goverment stands by why your city is dying??) and you scum bags make jokes about this? Why not poke fun at people who were stuck in the twin towers…. noooo that would just be unamerican.. its the same thing american people died on a massive scale when they shouldnt have and could have been prevented. So if ur from TX, MN, or anywhere else in the world shut ur mouth ab Katrina bc you cant even begin to understand what we have gone through every single day since that storm hit…. have a shred of dignity. Based on what? Great QB, improving defense. All they lack is a consistent running game like they had in ’09. A healthy Pierre Thomas and a healthy Chris Ivory should solve that.

As much as been made about the Packers overcoming injuries to win the Super Bowl, the Saints have had similar injury problems in both ’09 and ’10. While the Saints didn’t have to place all their guys on IR, they still had tons of starters miss huge chunks of both seasons. A little luck injury-wise would put them right back into the thick of things quickly.

ppl like u dont understand nola and uve probably never been here bc if u have (which you’ll say u have when u know u havent) you’d see how good we treat each other and how charming the people as well as the city itself really are. There’s no other place like New Orleans in the world and the people who live here know that living anywhere else (especially Texas bc i lived there for two years) is a complete bummer. Anywhere in the U.S. has good and bad areas in each state but bc of how the news potrayed us during Katrina (90% of which was B.S.) you want to steriotype us. People like you who make us who we are….. PROUD, STRONG, and RESILLIANT! and when we win another one next year we’ll rub it in your face even worse bc you ppl say we can’t! Ok, the more I think about it after reading other posts, I have changed my mind. I wouldn’t want anyone telling me where to live. If he wants to live in Dallas or Anchorage no matter to me..just be sure you’re at work on time.

Thats just outside of Dallas but a bit closer to Fort Worth. Nate Newton’s kid played HS ball there.
Southlake HAD one of the best HS teams in the country for a 5year span. Maybe he wants his kids to go there.

Sean Payton has two young children and this move is more a reflection on the crappy school systems in NOLA, compared to Dallas. As any parent wants their kids to grow up happy.., he’s also hoping they’ll turn out smart.

Even the parents of kids in the NOLA school systems have to understand that decision.

Except Payton’s kids weren’t going to school in New Orleans or even Orleans Parish, they were going to school in Mandeville, which is in St. Tammany Parish and where the Paytons lived, in an upscale, rich community.

It’s fine if they want to move, but the Saints PR staff and Payton himself should have done a better job dropping this information, since allowing the rumor mill to leak it out made everyone think he was going to the Cowboys and people are still wondering what is going on and why after 5 years his family is moving away. He needs to make a statement on this soon to clear the air.

If a football team that he used to work for and a guy named Jerry Jones weren’t in the city Payton was moving to, I think most people would have less of a problem with it.

New Orleans is not somewhere I’d wanna live, visit yet.

Don’t you DARE mess this up by starting to alienate Sean Payton for simply wanting to raise his kids in North Texas. Sean Payton is the best thing that EVER happened to the New Orleans Saints. THREE playoff runs out of FIVE years and a Super Bowl victory means Sean Payton can raise his kids wherever he pleases and we would be idiotic to make waves over this very insignificant point.

The ex-con mention is just ridiculous. Ornstein was popped for crimes he’s been committing since 1998. Brees has known him since his rookie year and has gone on record saying “He’s (Ornstein) a friend to a lot of guys”. The guy is known around the league as “Orny”, which doesn’t happen to a guy no one buddies up with. Yet Duncan doesn’t mention this at all, acting like Payton is the only NFL person who befriended him.

Duncan’s a good news guy and a good enough analyst (his postgame reports are pretty good), but he’s a terrible columnist. Anything involving only his opinion is almost always completely worthless drivel.
