The owners want an 18-game season. The players generally don’t.

But what about the coaches?

We suspect Packers coach Mike McCarthy shared the opinion of the majority of colleagues when asked about the subject at his season-ending press conference in Green Bay Wednesday.

“I know what the company line is, but you are talking to a guy that barely made it through 16 games, so you can figure it out for yourself,” McCarthy said.

Coaches work for owners, so they usually have to parrot the company line. Perhaps the lack of a true owner in Green Bay allows for McCarthy to say what 31 other head coaches are surely thinking.
