The NFLPA and NFL can’t even agree to meet on consecutive days, so they aren’t likely to agree on the use of the franchise tag anytime soon.

That won’t prevent teams from starting to apply the tag Thursday, even if we don’t know for certain what it will mean when a new CBA is worked out.

With all that out of the way, Jason La Canfora of NFL Network has a handy list of players that should and shouldn’t get tagged over the next two weeks. Chiefs linebacker Tampa Hali and Raiders tight end Zach Miller are among the two players on the list.

Hali and the Chiefs have actually been exchanging contract proposals this offseason, so a long-term deal could happen before a work stoppage.

Patriots guard Logan Mankins and Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson could have their 2010 drama extended into 2011 by getting tagged as well.
