Jeremy Green pleads guilty to possession of child pornography

jeremy-green

Last year, former NFL scout and ESPN employee Jeremy Green was arrested for possession of child pornography, along with drug-related charges.  Green has now pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, according to the Hartford Courant.

During a two-hour online chat in June 2010, Green allegedly sent “sexually explicit photos and videos of a toddler” to an undercover officer using the screen name ‘lendingmom12,’ and Green allegedly said he couldn’t wait for her to bring her three children to Connecticut.

The arrest warrant states that Green sent the undercover officer “17 pictures of a toddler, two videos of a toddler and one video of an 8-year-old girl.”

Green, the son of former Vikings coach, former Cardinals coach, and current Sacramento Mountain Lions coach Dennis Green, is expected to receive a sentence of 20 years in prison, suspended after five.  Jeremy Green worked for the Browns before joining ESPN.

This is the creepiest NFL related story I’ve read in a long time.

  4. johnnyshore says: Feb 11, 2011 8:19 AM

By pleading guilty he is admitting that he is who the police thought he was, and no one is going to let him off the hook.

  5. wivikesfan says: Feb 11, 2011 8:26 AM

You hope he gets help? I wish we wouldn’t waste money inprisoning this piece of feces and would just end him.

  6. CKL says: Feb 11, 2011 8:33 AM

There’s no rehabbing child molesters. They are simply born with something wrong with them just like sociopaths, etc. Nor do I consider it a good use of my tax dollars to try to rehab them.

  7. mike83ri says: Feb 11, 2011 8:44 AM

    This is disgusting.

And it’s really too bad for Denny Green, I liked him a lot.

  8. purplepillager says: Feb 11, 2011 8:45 AM

Twenty years isn’t enough. He sent pictures and vidoes to a mother of three and couldn’t wait to see her kids? Really?!?! It’s amazing how stupid some people can be.

I always liked Dennis Green, especially after he became coach of the Cardinals. I wonder how he is dealing with this?

wivikesfan: Because he didn’t actually harm any children in what he did, yes its disgusting and wrong and not defending his actions whatsoever but at least he was just looking at picture and not prowling the streets. Sounds like he’s a deviant, not a predator.

  13. philtration says: Feb 11, 2011 9:15 AM

Lowest form of scum there is.

No sympathy for turds like this yet if he could throw a football someone would be defending him and claiming that he should have a 2nd chance.

    wivikesfan –

I’m with you, bro. There is no “help” or rehabbing for this guy. After that pathetic 5 year sentence is up, he will be at it again, probably doing worse stuff (if he hasn’t already, just not known about). As a father of 2 young boys, I say get rid of this waste of space, or at the least put him away for the rest of his life.

“Suspended after five” isn’t good enough.

Agreed. Although, if he’s not in some sort of protective custody that 5 years will feel like 20 because convicts that mess with kids are not the most popular guys in the joint.

He’s a SICK SICK man getting involved in Child Porn and I agree that he should be locked away and have the key thrown away.

Last- was I the only one who looked at the photo and said, “That can’t be Dennis Green’s kid.”

  31. steelnucs says: Feb 11, 2011 10:40 AM

    @marvsleezy –

    How nice for you.

Obviously, he shouldn’t be executed or tortured for what he did, if that is in fact the extent of his crimes. So, in your civilized, educated opinion, what should be done with the disturbing Mr. Green? Yeah, he hasn’t (hopefully) actually touched or molested any kids, but after 5 years in the pen, it’s probably only a matter of time.

  32. giablommi says: Feb 11, 2011 10:50 AM

A very sick individual, for sure. But more sick than, say, someone who systematically tortures, mutilates, drowns, electrocutes and bodyslams dogs to death for pleasure and entertainment? Maybe, maybe not.

But I’m willing to bet that many people out there would be willing to forgive this guy if he could throw a football, run fast and win their team a few more games.

Where are the Vick apologists who preach forgiveness and second chances?

    H Y P O C R I T E S

  33. giablommi says: Feb 11, 2011 10:53 AM

…by the way, to clarify, my comment is not meant to say that this creep deserves any leeway, forgiveness or second chances.

Quite the opposite. I consider M. Vick to be as despicable and unredeemable a monster as people like Jeremy Green.

    Carry on.

  34. pkrlvr says: Feb 11, 2011 11:14 AM

@marvsleezy, you might think differently if he got at one of your kids!

In the old days they’d castrate a sick bastard like this. In our pc society they’ll probably declare him bipolar, pump him full of drugs and send him to a work release program at a daycare.

  39. gregjennings85 says: Feb 11, 2011 11:39 AM

Well, Jeremy Green seems to be doing well. Are you freaking kidding me?

Guys with these types of charges do not do well in prison. People will be gunning for him, to say the least, and rightfully so. Imagine being in prison for life, and a guy like this comes in.

    Target: acquired.

If I run the prison he’s sent to, there is no way he gets to watch even a second of the NFL Draft, NCAA or NFL football during his entire ‘stay’.

In most 2nd or 3rd world countries, this guy’s trial would be about 20 minutes long, he’d be taken out back and the cost to the state would be a few rounds of ammunition.

  40. arnoldziffel says: Feb 11, 2011 11:46 AM

Anyone connected at all to the legal community in MN will tell you that his old man had female sexual harassment issues when he coached the Vikes. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, although this apple is a bit more rotten to the core than the tree.

  42. ingloriousmaster says: Feb 11, 2011 12:03 PM

Just goes to prove that you shouldn’t have online relationships/friendships without actually meeting the person! Still kinda shocked about this, I remember he (Jeremy) was a guest many times on my local sports radio station.

  43. marvsleezy says: Feb 11, 2011 12:24 PM

To answer the above question – He should have to wear an ankle bracelet for the rest of his life. I agree he needs to be monitored at all times for the rest of his life or he will likely strike again.

And in certain situations, castration might not even be considered torture. Some offenders agree to it so they can live a more “normal” life.

  44. prior0knowledge says: Feb 11, 2011 12:24 PM

Let us keep this scumbag alive and risk he escapes and rapes some small children before he is caught. To me capital punishment is the more civilized thing to do. Once society recognizes someone who can never be released, it only makes logical sense to end their life rather than risking their escape or their corrupting others that are not too far gone.

  45. wivikesfan says: Feb 11, 2011 12:27 PM

“Capital punishment just shows arrogance and hypocrisy from a society.

After he finishes his jail sentence, he should never, ever, EVER be allowed to be around children, period.”

Sounds good. I assume we can sign you up to get docked from every paycheck going forward to pay for it? I mean, you’re so socially advanced that you clearly see the benefit in putting people on leashes for the rest of their lives. Certainly seems worthy of the investment!

Are you completely insane??? How did this country get SO pathetic that a dog and a baby are in the same class??? You’re probably one of those pathetic losers that talks baby talk to your – smaller than a cat – pissant dog aren’t you. Or dresses your “dog” up in all manner of stupid clothes to try to humanize the poor thing.

I love dogs, but f**k you for even mentioning dog abuse and pedophilia in the same sentence.

First off locking this guy up serves two purposes: first and foremost it keeps this guy away from TODDLERS and secondly it keeps this guy off the pod casting circuit where he often violated my ear drums with complete BS.

He was awful at his “job” with ESPN and apparently even worse at the job of life.

No way he survives 20 years in the joint. My bro is a prison guard, and they don’t care too kindly for child porn / molester types.

    Rot in peace Jeremy.

Your meth induced logic suggests that our society is one that will evolve to “accept” this behavior when in fact modern society has never embraced this kind of harm to children. Certainly not in the past 30 years and not in the next 30 years.

Re-read what he did and you tell us how in 30 years we’ll “get over it.” Your internet balls are huge as you’d never be able to state this claim to the victims family in person.

Your post couldn’t be stupider if you tried.

Simply put, a bullet to the brain is too good for this D Bag. Predators are NOT worth the time, effort or money to incarcerate.

These types of sick, degenerate, worthless oxygen robbers cannot be rehabilitated. This piece of excrement does not possess a human quality or trait.

Society needs to wake up and legislate into law the death penalty in any case where children are victimized sexually. For that matter any sexually predator should be euthanized, this thing called Green included.

@wtf6969 – I agree completely with your sentiments, although; I would have worded it differently – lol. My fear is that their have been victims. As a society, I believe we must do everything that we can to protect those who can’t protect themselves…the unborn, children, elderly, etc.

I support capital punishment, I’m just glad that justice isn’t administered on message boards.

I’d love to hear your explanation for priests doing the same thing if not worse that Mr. Jeremy “Scumbag” Green.

Some people are disposable. Sorry to put it so bluntly. Anybody who does acts as disgusting and as heinous as child molesters and serial killers are beyond repair.

You and I couldn’t be on further ends of the spectrum on this issue / beliefs. But I respect your opinion.

  55. simonadebisi says: Feb 11, 2011 11:04 PM

@universalsynic – I can’t explain any of it other than to say that the nature of man is to sin. God put himself in the body of a human, called himself Jesus, and allowed Himself to be murdered for all of us…so all of us, even Mr. Green can receive forgiveness.

    Proverbs 28:13
He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.

    That’s a promise from God.

    Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

There are still consequences for our choices. I hope Mr. Green makes peace with his Maker. I think the fact that he is pleading guilty is a potential sign of contrition.

  56. michfootballfan says: Feb 12, 2011 12:21 AM

    Doctor Jeckle and Mr. Hyde.

    This is Jeremy Green!!

I listened to his podcasts and found him to be alive, vibrant, and entertaining. He seemed to have some degree of intelligence and a sense of the human existence.

It is most disturbing that such a man would have such a dark side. To prey on the most defenseless of our society for transitory sexual satisfaction is truely appalling and I can’t argue with those who believe that he deserves the worst that society has to dish out.

What is most disturbing is that there are many others like him, wearing the cloaks of coaches, teachers, scout leaders, etc. I have no clue on what evil possesses these people but as a society, we have a duty to protect our youth from them.

Jeremy Green is not even the tip of the iceburg, he is but a small ice cube on its top. The problem is much larger.

Pedophiles are a cancer to the human race. Like cancer, it has to be extracted asap, or risk infecting other cells.

I’m not without feeling. I understand that pedophiles are made, and I’m sorry for that. But, not all victims of sexual abuse turn into abusers.

I’m sure they all live with their nightmares and demons but, once you take that step, cross that line and abuse someone else, you are now the cancerous cell…you have to be removed!

May God have mercy on his soul.

  59. wtf6969 says: Feb 12, 2011 9:57 AM

@ddjesus…You clearly either a) don’t have kids b) are Jeremy Green posting from a jail cell, or c) are yourself a pedophile. You think it is uncivilized for demanding the blood of someone that just participated in completely ruining a child’s life?

This is where I stopped paying attention. Using a book of fiction to support your argument or explain something is the quickest way to get me to not take you seriously.

Again, I respect people’s faiths, I just don’t believe nor will I ever. Jeremy Green and others like him simple add more proof to the argument that we are simply animals. Some are not wired correctly and need to be put down. Like Mr. Green.
