So yeah, Peyton Manning has been hurt before. And yeah, Peyton Manning takes some nasty hits out there right before he gets rid of the ball. But he’s also smart enough to avoid a killshot if no one is open & he’s about to get drilled.

And what makes Richardson’s comment even more idiotic is that Peyton’s own brother, Cooper, had to quit football at Ole Miss due to severe nerve problems in his neck & arm. So yes, Peyton does know a little something about player safety.

ROGER GOODELL IS EMPLOYED BY THE OWNERS, THAT IS WHY HE SIDES WITH THEM. WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR YOU PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND?

Goodell does not represent the players, the fans, politicians, alumni… he is the representative of the owners of the 32 NFL franchises. He is the figurehead elected to promote the interests of the owners. That is why he has a job and that is what he is paid to do.

I do not understand why this is so complicated.

No offense to the Players and Owners, but I want to know what is going to be done to make games more affordable for us as fans !!! There will obviously be costs to us, but $5 for a 32oz soda ? $3.50 for a hot dog ($5.00 if you want fries ) i mean come on man! I go to a game and feel like i just got mugged! I cannot imagine how fans of teams like the Panthers, Browns Cincy and so on feel. Not only do they get mugged most of the time the team does not win to make the pain a little less…

It’s true…SO $$$ to go to a game it isn’t funny. And we seldom ate there…we ate first or afterwards and we never bought drinks we would bring our own water until they decided we couldn’t do that either. OSTENSIBLY because after 911 containers were considered a potential bomb/object that could injure but that was just some excuse they used so we had to fork over $4 for water. There was no parking lot AT the stadium either.

I’ve been a rabid NFL fan for decades and the experience of going to a game just sucks now because a lot of fans are “see and be seen ” types now due to the high cost. They don’t want to WATCH THE GAME…just talk to each other and eat and be on their cell phones. It sucks…regardless of stadium.

Unfortunately I don’t see a way this changes. Those days are just gone due to the salaries of the players and stadium costs (I remember the days that stadia were used for baseball AND football, now they each have to have their own except a couple holdouts like Mia). That’s why I buy Sunday Ticket and sit at home and love every minute of it.

Players have to pay:
union dues
lawyer dues (for the occasional hit and run, possession of a narcotic, DUI, DWI, assault, assault with a deadly weapon, dog fighting rings, rape, etc..)
child support
But they also get bonuses, product sponsorship, free clothes, free food, etc…

So yeah, a 50/50 split is perfect for these two intelligent groups of people. ; D

I’m on the owners side of this issue but there is no room for the type of behavior Jerry Richardson allegedly exhibited within these negotiations.

Seriously, is it not RIDICULOUS that through ALL this concussion stuff he NFL hasn’t even attempted to make it madatory that ALL players wear the more advanced protective headgear? One-eyed Jacks, man.

Not sure this makes much sense. There’s no logical connection between how many times you’ve been hurt and what you know about saftey. And if there was, wouldn’t a guy who has “never been hurt” be the oracle of knowledge about player saftey? (again, assuming there WAS any connection between the two). WOuldn’t Bwest be a guy who knows “less” about player saftey since he has been hurt more? Again, none of this is true- there is no connection. But that’s what it would be if there was one.

No one should get unaccountable power.

SELL THE TEAM……The fans deserve better

Yeah, because both of those guys are infamous for crapping all over people. The union could have gone “high end” and rolled out Cromatie and Merriman, but deliberately antagonized the owners by putting forward the two rudest, nastiest, and most uneducated players in the League. It’s all the union’s fault!! Typical Texas ditch digger defending the indefensible. Chappy, you just get more and more delusional by the day. Clearly, the Cowboys season traumatized you permanently.
