Tyson Clabo won’t get franchise tag

Tyson Clabo, Roddy White AP

While looking at Atlanta’s free agency priorities on Monday, we wondered if the team would consider using the franchise tag on right tackle Tyson Clabo.

The answer came back quickly.

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reported Tuesday that the Falcons don’t plan to use the franchise tag on any of their prospective free agents.   Clabo, guard Harvey Dahl, and guard Justin Blalock could all hit free agency.

It will be tough for the Falcons to afford to keep even two of the players above, but they have drafted a lot of depth on the offensive line over the last few years.

La Canfora notes that the Saints and Cowboys are also not expected to use the tag.

The more detailed headline would be – Tyson Clabo is a Philadelphia Eagle.

I got 66 thumbs down on my sarcastic comment regarding the development of Clabo on Madden ’08 so I’ll not go there.

But this kid is a good player. I’m sure he’ll make his bank if there is bank to be made.

if any of em leave itll be blalock…dahl n clabo r amongst the best rg rt combo in this league and its the side turner gains most of his yards rushing, left side is our weakness so i wudnt mind seeing blalock go aslong as we draft a top rated guard like the kid from georgia
