In a move that’s probably more a symbolic gesture than a change in how the team will do things, Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt has given Mike Miller a promotion from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator.
“I am excited about where we are going as an offense,” Miller said, per the AZCardinals.com. “I foresee things still working very similarly to what they have been, working closely with [offensive line coach] Russ [Grimm] and the staff. There will be a lot of input and we will work hard to turn this around.”
It’s the second promotion Miller has received in his five seasons with the Cardinals; he started as the team’s wide receivers coach before becoming passing game coordinator. Whisenhunt still runs the offense, but during the 2010 season he gave Miller more play-calling responsibilities.
The promotion of Miller is the only change on the Cardinals’ offensive coaching staff. The defensive side of the staff has undergone a significant change, with the arrival of new defensive coordinator Ray Horton, defensive backs coach Louie Cioffi and assistant defensive backs coach Deshea Townsend.

THE Mike Miller?!
I’m confused. What does this have to do with ex-Steelers? Why didn’t they hire Bruce Arians, Chan Gailey, or even Tommy Maddox? Something is up.
If Russ Grimm ever aspired to be a Head Coach, one would assume he should be an O-Coordinator first. What’s up with him never being one?
But will he actually call the offensive plays, or is he just a figurehead that was put in that position to make it look like Whisenhunt is not a miserable failure at play-calling since Haley left?
