Oprah scores Vick interview after dropping bet with Piers Morgan

As you may have heard, Eagles quarterback Mike Vick will be appearing soon on Oprah. As you may not have heard, she had a bet with Piers Morgan, who has replaced Larry King on CNN, that Oprah would score the sit-down before the guy previously best known for being a second-tier Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent.

To get the interview, Oprah had to drop the bet.

The wager started out as 200 British pounds. (So, wait -- the Duchess of York was the bet? Rim shot!) Oprah then doubled it.

The bet reportedly was withdrawn when Vick’s camp told Oprah that he couldn’t be involved with gambling.

Being the subject of the wager makes Vick no more “involved with gambling” than the dogs he once fought were “involved with gambling.” We wonder whether Oprah will make that comparison when she interviews Vick.

We also wonder whether there’s anything new to ask him that he hasn’t already said. Vick sat down with James Brown for an interview on 60 Minutes not long after being released from prison. Since then, Vick hardly has shied away from the media. It’ll be interesting to see what new twist or take Oprah applies to the situation.
