I HAVE watched Revis play. He clutches, grabs and holds to get an advantage on almost every single play. He gets away with a lot of stuff that should be called. Since he is considered a great player, the networks usually have an iso cam on him. Next time, YOU watch, and you’ll see what I mean. In the playoff game against the Pats, on 2 Branch drops, Revis should have been called for illegal contact on both plays. No flag on either. He gets away with a lot!

That being said. Don’t get your Joe Namath panties in a bunch. I think Revis is good, but he’s pumped up a little more than what he actually is. Nnamdi is better. I think McCourty has a CHANCE to be better.

Do you remember Rex’s mouth making a mess in NY talking up Revis? Leading Revis to hold out for top CB pay because HIS coach said he pretty much deserved ownership of the Gold Vault @ Ft. Knox! What do you think will happen if the Jets have Revis and Asomugha? I know Rex has a foot fettish but really, how many feet do you think would fit in one mans mouth?

Regardless, Revis is an excellent cover corner. He’s always anticipating correctly, he’s instinctive, and has the athletic ability to recover if somebody gets the jump on him. He very rarely gets caught unaware or out of position. He’s a smart ball player and consistently on his game.

He is very good with or without a consistent pass rush.

Right.

To say Revis is not a shutdown corner is crazy. Look at the guys he consistently takes out of offenses. They do have a pass rush problem though. They don’t get to the QB much without blitzing. Jason Taylor didn’t get to the QB with the frequency they had hoped, so this definitely is an area to improve. If they still had a guy like John Abraham the defense would be scary.

This is a flat out lie! AC “hits” almost anything that is on two legs, female, and doesn’t bark.

They can talk all they want about “Bevis as a shutdown CB” and how good Cromartie played this year etc. but the Jets know what any real football fan knows……they are both more a result of the Jets pass rush. A real shutdown corner can be found in Oakland or in Denver where the rest of their defense isn’t very good but Asomugha and Bailey still shut down their guys. I would love to see Revis play on an otherwise terrible defensive team, like say….the Texans….where is is no pass rush and db’s are expected to shadow a wr for 10 seconds………In Cromartie’s case, his season went to his head and now he thinks he can talk like a stud DB and his mouth is getting him in trouble….must be related to Randy Moss.

The Jet’s don’t have that good of a pass rush, actually. The pass rush is one of the weakest parts of their defense. And to say Revis isn’t a shutdown corner, that makes no sense. It’s been proven time and time again that Revis absolutely blankets his receivers. Just ask Reggie Wayne (1 catch 1 yard), Ochocinco, Moss, or anyone else who Revis has covered. Have you ever watched a Jets game?

The Jets DON’T have a pass rush. Watch the New England playoff game, Brady had ages to throw, the coverage was that good. If it wasn’t for Revis our defense would be much, much different.
