Bryan Cox may join Dolphins’ staff

The Dolphins are considering adding a familiar name to their coaching staff: Bryan Cox.

As a linebacker for the Dolphins in the 1990s, Cox was both a three-time Pro Bowler and a hothead who frequently let his temper get the better of him. Now Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald reports that Cox interviewed this week to join Tony Sparano’s staff.

It’s not clear what Cox’s title would be in Miami. He was defensive line coach in Cleveland in 2009 and 2010 but was fired last month along with head coach Eric Mangini. Cox had also worked for Mangini with the Jets.

In addition to playing for the Dolphins, Cox spent time with the Bears, Jets, Patriots and Saints.

I hope he makes the LBs wear that diving board for neck protection he had.

Cox still gets a lot of credit up here for a devastating hit against the Colts that turned the Patriots season around in 2001. Always an ass, but the kind of guy the fans liked on their team.

If the Dolphins wanted a hot head asst coach could they not locate Chuck Cecil? At least Chuck has NFL experience to go along with his temper….

I hope the Dolphins hire him so the Bills can dominate Miami like the 1990″s!! Thurman Thomas and Kenny Davis used to run over that loud mouth in all the big games…

A “my way or the highway” guy. Alienated many players in Cleveland. Glad to see him gone

Good move, one this Patriots fan would prefer the ‘fins not make.

Cox could do any linebacker corp a lot of good!

Crap…was hoping he would come back to NE.
Still I think I heard him say a couple times on his radio show before Mangini hired him in NY that he considers himself a Dolphin so this makes sense

say what you want about Bryan Cox, but I know this. If antoher Jets coach decides to trip another Jets player, Bryans gonna go over there and kick some teeth out.

To have a vet like Bryan, it can only help. But I just this guy is a good teacher.

However where we missed on coaching opps was QB COACH ZORN!!!!

Henne needed a better coach than a no-name wide receivers coach. That decision will come back to haunt miami.

Welcome back Brian Cox. I would have loved to play with him or for him. Always exciting when he was around. Anybody that will take on a whole sideline for a kicker is worth having on board. Yeah, he’s a Dolphin!

hahhaha this guy was a freakkkkkk, loved watching him on sundays. I remember not getting that pissed off about his unsportsmanlikes because you could tell his fervor was a necessary component of his game.
