Donald Rumsfeld calls Raiders “evil”

donald_rumsfeld_ap110210119423_244x183

Iran, Iraq, North Korea.

And the Raiders.

Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, in an interview given on Super Sunday, took a shot at the Silver and Black.  Rumsfeld ended the sit-down by asking Gideon Rachman of the Financial Times (via SFWeekly.com) whether Rachman was pulling for the Steelers or the Packers.  Rachman said the Steelers, “because of the epic games against the Oakland Raiders in the 1970s.”

Said Rumsfeld in response, “Nobody could support the Raiders.  They’re evil.”

We’ll stop now and let the commenters sort this one out among themselves.

Because others on here happen to feel the same as the entire rest of the world and can’t stand Donald freakin’ Rumsfeld? LOL The guy is a tool. As soon as the article said that Rumsfeld said the Raiders are evil every Raider fan in the world should have felt instantly gratified. I’m surprised he didn’t instantly shoot a friend in the face the moment he finished saying it. You must be one of those tools that actually believes the USA is safer because of all the garbage measures put in when he had a hand in power.

I always love the right vs left politics. It’s so stupid. Both sides are completely useless and everything done, left or right, is completely about money. Sometimes they’ll taper it down a bit or put a nice agenda or spin on it, but, in the end, money.

Why would you tell a fellow citizen to “leave America?” This will probably come as a surprise to you, but it is people like YOU who are the problem. Ever heard of freedom of speech? Maybe you have, you probably think that only applies to speech you agree with.

I love you people who claim to love the country and be more patriotic but yet hate the very foundations that this country was built on. YOU are the problem, not someone exercising Constitutionally guaranteed free speech.

Then again, its no wonder you’d go to bat for War Criminal Rumsfeld since he and his ilk did more to eviscerate the Constitution than any other administration in the last 235 years.

Brady and Belichick still have a lot of football left. Still, even though they’ve one and done’d it the last few years, and if they never win another Super Bowl or playoff game, they’ve already etched a permanent place in the pantheon of football greatness and given Patriots fans memories that will last a lifetime.

Your petty vindictiveness does nothing to change that. If that’s what you have been reduced to as a Raider fan, than that is pretty sad.

Agreed. Money isn’t everything, it is the only thing.
I also agree with Gia and really, most of us have already left America, living within its borders, because it is but a mere shell of what it was meant to be. Are people aware that Rumsfield and Cheney have been involved in some capacity or level, since the 70′s in D.C. and the government, with defense, schemes and cover ups…makes it easy to assume that there is indeed a grand master plan and these people are placed accordingly to help carry it out…just wonder what their final objective is. I’m afraid, I don’t really want to know. I do know that with all of the bickering and separation, the poor economy, poor educational system, and a myriad of other problems, that WE ALL have played a hand in creating, with our apathy, indifference and loss of morality, that our founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves nonstop. How embarrassing. And for those who think they are being cute by quipping, “You don’t like it, then leave.” Trust me, many people don’t have the means and money too, but I would wager it is safe to say that many, thousands, if not millions, would leave if they had the means and money too. So do yourself a favor and stop thinking that everything is okay, so great and wonderful. Stop believing they hype that these news networks spoonfeed us and the propaganda from both sides of the aisles. Quit buying into the scare tactics and learn how to become a free thinker. Take off the blind fold, quit being a mindless sheep and quit drinking the Kool-Aid and learn how to investigate and form a rational, reasonable and informed decision. I can only hope that someday our leaders reverse course and start doing the same and realize how great things could truly be, for us and even the world. When we take the time to approach foreign affairs with rational talks, an open mind and understanding of each others cultures and realize in the end, we are not all that different. To offer help and assistance with teaching them things like education and how to grow crops, build businesses and suggest ideas on how to live but understand and accept, that they have their own way of doing certain things, that will indeed never change and be okay with it instead of pissed off and try to force the issues, which causes resentment and hatred of us. We can do this things as well domestically. We all play an important role in this thing called humanity and it can be vastly improved for everyone, with a better moral code, a conscious, with understanding, sensible discussion and debates, and with love and peace. Andy yeah, I may be a dreamer…but I’m not the only one.

  58. giablommi says: Feb 17, 2011 11:30 AM

    @ chapnastier

    That’s a little too simplistic.

Rummy, Wolfowitz, Cheney et al were directly responsible for manufacturing intelligence and evidence, lying to Congress with impunity and shameless spewing propaganda to get us into Iraq, resulting in thousands of American deaths and the destruction of a sovereign nation. Doesn’t make me proud to be an American.

That said, I don’t give Congress a free pass at all. They are a disgrace to themselves, their constituents and to the great history of this nation. I am neither Democratic nor Republican, Liberal nor Conservative, but clearly the American people gave the Democratic party a mandate in 2006 to hold the Bush Administration responsible for their war crimes and they failed. All are complicit and all are contemptible.

God I hate discussing politics on a football blog. No mas!!

    Oh, wait, that was him.

  61. raiderdave8675 says: Feb 17, 2011 11:37 AM

And that’s ok, because the Raiders are the only organization in sports that have it done it our way. Once a Raider always a Raider….if not you’re a hater. Very cut and dry, or Silver and Black as I like to say.
    Raiders Forever!!!
PS If the government spent as much time on righting the ship that is this great country, as they did commenting on things outside their arena, we would be much further advanced. Peace and love to the Raider Nation, and forgiveness for all others.

    That’s some impressive logic. Not.
Rumsfeld has admitted to violating the Geneva Convention. So has Bush and Cheney, so by their own admission they have committed crimes. If they were to leave the U.S. they could be arrested, taken to the Hague, and put on trial. Congress did not approve waterboarding and illegal detention, so they are not culpable.
Rummy’s book reveals there were no WMD.
He and Bush and Cheney are guilty, and there should be an investigation.

    Absolutely WRONG.

Have the Pats choked in the playoffs the last 6 years? Yes. Is this disapponting? Yes. Is this a result of Camerahunt aka Spygate? The numbers don’t lie:

Pats regular season record 2001-06: 70-26
    Winning %: .729
Pats regular season record 2007-10: 51-13
    Winning %: .796

Let me preface this by saying Super Bowls are all that matter. However, how do you explain this? I’ve yet to find any Patriots hater that can provide a plausible explanation for why the Patriots record is BETTER post-Spygate.

Until someone can do so, your argument comes off as nothing more than a FALLACY and perhaps also sour grapes. Anyone?

You do realize the Congress authorized the use of force in Iraq based upon lies told by Rumsfeld and Powell? And that lying to Congress is a felony?

It’s not our job to liberate every population subject to a dictatorship. And if we really believe that is our responsibility, which of course we don’t, we’re going to be awfully busy: Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Chechnya, Somalia, Cuba, Cambodia, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kosovo are all dictatorships.

If Al Davis ran a country, you just know that country would not merely be like a version of the US under some president you don’t like based on your political party. If Al Davis ran a country it would be more like Iran, North Korea, Myanmar, etc. Tom Cable would run the military and beat his former top aides in dark rooms, under Davis turned on him. Stalin and Mao were more loyal to their nefarious top enforcers than Davis has been to coaches. I have compared Davis to other aging insane dictators and I think he is the closest thing we have to that in the NFL. Don’t blame Rumsfeld for a very reasonable comparison just because you disagree with his politics.

Rumsfeld never said he was a Steelers fan. He just said the Raiders were evil. Read the article before you comment next time. The interviewer said he was pulling for the Steelers. The evil comment came as a response to that and Rumsfeld picked no favorite.

An excerpt from the article above:
Rumsfeld ended the sit-down by asking Gideon Rachman of the Financial Times (via SFWeekly.com) whether Rachman was pulling for the Steelers or the Packers. Rachman said the Steelers, “because of the epic games against the Oakland Raiders in the 1970s.”

That’s actually what you just did. How passive aggressive of you. I’m not going to claim it’s an inside job. But the government’s official story (quite a conspiracy in and of itself!!) frankly sounds as far fetched (if not more?) than some conspiracy theories I’ve heard.

Just out of curiousity, are you aware that Donald Rumsfeld actually slipped up and stated that Flight 93 was SHOT DOWN?

Don’t take my word for it, its on youtube, just type “Rumsfeld Flight 93 shot down”. It’s there. I posted a link earlier but PFT censored it (of course).

Bottom line, I am not claiming that it was or was not an “inside job”. The fact remains though that there are many unanswered questions and pieces of the puzzle of the official story that do not add up. Hard for some governemtn loving brainwashed sheeple to understand, I realize.

If they would just release some footage of an actual airplane hitting the Pentagon, it would quell a lot of the conspiracy theories. Too bad the Government considers us all mindless sheep incapable of handling the truth.

I had to reset my password just to get back into this tripe kitchen. Now then, watch out:

The simple fact that Rummy tags the Raiders as “evil” is funny as all hell. What does this guy know about evil, aside from the fact he assisted W and his cronies about in putting the USA to war against Iraq based on lies? The guy is old, demented, and about 2 steps away from useless (just like our friend Al The Cryptkeeper, but at least Al doesn’t make assumptions, he just gets his decisions wrong). So, unless Rummy here serves some purpose in life after a Cabinet post (such as gumming farina for his fellow rest home residents) it’s best to let him prattle away on subjects that don’t even concern him.

All Raider Haters = D Rumsfeld

Where are the WMDs you ask? Might not be in the middle east but you might wanna ask the rest of the AFC West about that. I think they’re all taking the side of Rummy. LOL

Win, lost, or tie…Raiders ’til I die!

  76. pftareraiderhaters says: Feb 17, 2011 3:20 PM

he is just another hater, and the king of lies……i guess he is still looking for those weapons of mass destrcuction that he and his pal told us about…..really he is responsible for thousands of lives and bloodshed in the middle east….so who is really evil?

  77. pftareraiderhaters says: Feb 17, 2011 3:33 PM

    @chapnastier

if you were in congress and were told we need to live in “fear” every day because their are WOMD and we are going to die…how would you vote…..say what you want about Obama, but it seems to me that we never hear about “we are at level orange” today ….that seems to have gone bye bye…..isn’t spreading the fear of evil, evil in it self. so get real the guys a douche bag…raider hater or not.

I think dementia is setting in for ol’ Rummy. I know their fans are called “Raider Nation” but they aren’t an actual nation. Damn funny quote though, I’m sure Undead Al even got a chuckle or two out of it.

  79. cur68 says: Feb 17, 2011 10:42 PM

Well, I realize most of you know this, but one or two seem not to; Rumpy was making joke. Wasn’t particularly funny, but it was an attempt at a human emotion, something he’d stopped having in the mid 70′s. Encourage him a bit folks. It’s a long way back from the place he’s at and he deserves a bit of a prop for making the attempt. He looks better these days , too. He’s filed off the horns and the orthotics are making his hooves seem almost normal. When he takes the plunge and has the tail removed he’ll be nearly there. Lets all try and help, eh? It’s an immortal soul we’re trying to rescue.

  82. bertcampaneris says: Feb 18, 2011 6:38 AM

Raiders, meh. Now if said the Ravens, we’d be on to something.

I guess this is why he helped create the Patriot act

  84. baseballstars says: Feb 19, 2011 10:05 AM

I’m not a liberal, but I hate Rumsfeld. The lies he and his ilk told and acted upon will haunt this nation for a long, long time.

  85. materialman80 says: Feb 20, 2011 12:14 PM

That SOB has no right to call anybody evil. He IS evil.

  86. theoriginalcaptainmarvel says: Feb 23, 2011 8:55 PM

Yeah, the reason everyone commenting is liberal is because it’s also a story about Los Angeles, where it’s mostly liberals. That’s why California is way beyond bankrupt. They’d be long gone if it weren’t for the other states bailing them out.
