Wow – As a Packers fan I would love that.
There is always a desire to bring in a “name” in the offseason. The desperation is mostly from fans who don’t know a lick about building a winning team.

There is a reason why the Colts cut him and money is only one of them. He slipped down the draft board because of his size. He surprised almost everyone with his awesome brutality and ability.

The problem is at that size and with the way he plays, the injuries began to pile up. Averaging 3 games a year for the past three seasons.

Fans of teams that imploded last year will be throwing names around like Packers fans did two years ago after going 6-10. “Haynesworth”, “Adalius”, etc. Good GMs will will build their teams for immediate impact but more importantly, long term success.
That is why Snyder is such a terrible owner and micro manager in Washington. All those big name signings and lack of development.
The Vikings need to establish a franchise QB and shore up their aging lines and grow their DBs through the draft unless a true PTP can be signed.
Signing Sanders is not coin flip. It is a 18.75% games played average over the last three years.

Now, put down the Purple Kool -Aid get over to the MetroDump and help shovel, Pervy. Lord knows that bubble could burst again before Wilf rents some Modell buses next year and heads for sunshine and quakes.

It’d be worth the risk. Madieu Williams was probably the worst starting safety in the league, Abdullah just isn’t an NFL starter, and Tyrell Johnson is bad. Hard to play cover 2 with one of the worst safety tandems in the league.

Wow. For every Viking post there are at least 10 pervyharvin wanna-be-Packer fans posting compared to the 1 pervy on a Packer story. You won the world champioship, act like it and show some class.

You guys really are an embarassment to the Lombardi trophy you so deeply desire. ‘Lord Vince’ would just shake his head in disgust.

Anyway, what about Bob? We didn’t go after Brian Dawkins and look how well that worked, at least bring Sanders in on a one yr deal.

That would be a big pickup if he can stay healthy… If he were to be added, the vikes would have to change their scheme a bit. I don’t see him dropping back as a cover 2 safety all game.

Remember that guy you used to work with and learned the ropes from, to then later get transferred to another branch, later to re-group with this guy because he was givin’ a few options and moves to your branch, because out of the options, he respects your style of coaching? that’s this guy, he could work well with Winfield. How about the Saints with Sharper.

How do you figure?

If you have a Safety who is middling, and you bring in Bob Sanders and still keep the middling safety, how is your team not better? If he gets hurt, middling safety goes back into the starting role. You have the potential to have an explosive player, and you STILL have the middling player. Thus, you are at least as good with the potential to be better.

9 games in the last 3 seasons? That means hes fresh. If the Vikes can’t address their needs at safety in the draft (or choose not to, so they can fill other holes) Bob Sanders would be a venture worth taking. The upside is far greater than the downside. Worst case sceario, he gets paid $4 million-ish and doesn’t preform worth a damn. Every team over pays at some point. This would be the first risk the Vikes have taken under Leslie Frazier

Torn muscles and similar injuries are usually the result of too much steroid use. Perfect example is an unnamed player that just signed with Buffalo. Vikings better do there homework.

Bob has to know he will have to take a drastic pay cut to keep playing. I can see a guy like Pioli offering him a short term, performance based contract. The Chiefs have a ton of money to spend and Pioli has a love for Iowa products. I could also see Pioli signing Robert Gallery as well. Gallery is a good run blocker and the Chiefs strength is the run. Bob has shown signs of greatness. Even though his injuries seemed to be of a freak nature, he has been labeled. But even if it were for just 3 games, it would be exciting to see him play opposite Eric Berry.
