Matt Hasselbeck will be available whenever free agency starts, and Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says he wants his quarterback to return for 2011.

But if the Seahawks aren’t making Hasselbeck an offer that’s to his liking, they should know that he’ll have one member of the media openly campaigning for him to get a lucrative contract: His brother, former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Tim Hasselbeck.

On SportsCenter today, Tim Hasselbeck served as the analyst on a segment that involved several 2011 free agents and where they might end up. At the end of the segment, he discussed what the future might hold for Matt.

“If I was a team interested in a quarterback who threw seven touchdowns and one interception in the playoffs, I might want to get him under contract,” Tim Hasselbeck said.

Tim is right: Matt put up good numbers in the Seahawks’ two playoff games, completing 48 of 81 passes for 530 yards, with seven touchdowns and one interception, for a passer rating of 102.4.

Of course, Tim forgot to mention that his brother has 34 touchdowns and 44 interceptions in the last three regular seasons.
