uuhhhhhh….foozie is right, the players aren’t asking for anything in addition, they are satisfied with the current CBA. it is the owners that are unsatisfied, want more money and want to pay the players less. and like ive said in numerous other posts not even the majority of these guys are raking it in. average nfl salary is a little over a million with the median at about 900k. average nfl career 3 and a half years.
-----------------------
uuuuhhhhhhh....foozie is right but show me where I said anything about the PLAYERS asking for more.

The agents and union are the jackasses in this ordeal. The players are caught in the middle. You are also correct in saying the owners have a stake as well. Let's also throw in Goodell.

Everyone involved in this are a big problem. The people hurt are the fans that help pay the salaries as well as the vendors that can lose a lot of jobs.

My point was that these people need to understand the risk involved with the economy before they act like stubborn mules. All because they are afraid players won't make more than they do now. I'm all for players getting paid what they are worth. What I am totally against are rookies coming into the league making more money than players that have been solid contributors for many years.

For those of you that don't understand that I don't know how better to explain it.

Does JimmySmith have a stand-in now? His post actually made sense ... well at least until the last paragraph. No one can predict how a season will play out.

For the Vikings the biggest problem last year was turnovers from the QB position ... not all INT's were Farve's fault (Berrian!), but there were too many sack/fumbles too. Webb - if he's the guy - has already shown way less propensity for to's, and the kid can flat out run too. His issue, as pointed out, is learning a new system and becoming more competent in the passing game. Still I like this team with Cedric Griffin, Hutchinson, Herrera returning from injuries - and hopefully full seasons from Sydney Rice and John Sullivan - to an already solid nucleus of players. But they absolutely need better play from the safeties - whether that means drafting one and/or taking a chance on Sanders, imo that's an even bigger need than QB.

This story really illustrates how some teams (Vikings among them) are worse off with a lock out.

They have a new OC, a new system, and a new QB and they can't offically get started until the labor deal is resolved.

So look for 2011 standings not to change much, the last place teams like the Vikings will repeat, finishing in last place again. The one bit of good news, at least we wouldn't have to hear from the Viking fans that this is the year they win the Superbowl, how did that work out for you last year?

Who knows if joe webb will even be the qb for the vikes next yr. But at least he is showing he wants the job and is showing some leadership here.

I truly appriciate that as a viks fan and would be more willing to see him get a shot if that's the direction the team takes.
