Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers, the man who Silva put at No. 1 overall in his first Mock Draft, will only lift weights at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news, which doesn’t come as a huge surprise following reports that Bowers underwent surgery for a torn meniscus after his season.
Bowers is expected to participate in his school’s Pro Day, and previous reports indicated he was mostly recovered from the surgery. Bowers led the nation with 16 sacks last year.

Why the heck do they even have the combine anyone. The top picks never want to do anthing until their pro days. It’s not like the teams hold it against them either.
If this kid wants millions he should be out there showcasing his talents with the competition, trying to set himself apart.
^^ You read the rest of the post? There are cases where I will agree with you, but not this one.

Not everyone is a top pick.
And yet another reason to be leery of DaQuan “bust in waiting” Bowers.
In this case, the player is injured and is still recovering. However for guys who are perfectly healthy, and say that they are just going to show up, but not participate in drills, teams should give them the cold shoulder.
Scouts and coaches should come together and say, look who ever shows up speaking nonsense like I won’t throw, I won’t run the 40, or I won’t do any drills, none of us will interview them. We won’t even acknowledge that they’re here. No hallway conversations, no hellos or handshakes.
If he’s projected to be the #1 or #2 pick, all he can do is hurt his stock. Why risk it?
^^spaced it I read the pro day thing thought he was ok that ones on me
Q: “Why the heck do they even have the combine?”
A: So the Raiders can still blow draft picks on guys who run a fast 40 yard dash!
Suh said he was confident and wanted to do combine and show off his skills and knew he had nothing to hide!! he is a beast!
Quan had a great workout. About the only thing he couldn’t lift was his feet off the floor.
I don’t know why people are making a big deal out of it. The guy had surgery on his knee and the one thing he would be able to do at full strength is lift end of story. That is unless you expect him to run a 40 and several other drills while recovering from knee surgery.
With that being said he will most likely become a bust anyway.
