Don’t get your hopes up, everybody. Before you know it the meetings will be abruptly abandoned with word that no agreement will happen anytime soon due to the wide chasm that exists between the NFLPA and the Owners, and that a lockout is imminent.

“We’ve reported that Tuesday was “big day” for progress in the process, though we haven’t been able to track down any specifics as to the issue(s) about which there may have been a breakthrough. But we stand by that report.”

It’s good to know that you stand by a report that said nothing factual and was pure specualtion – just as the NFLPA has stated.

Based on what? The fact that neither side has stormed out proves nothing. In point of fact-given the huge gulf between the parties-I am more inclined to speculate that this is all a dog and pony show that will soon end with both sides claiming “We tried but the other side was too intransigent”.

Why is the union saying anything to the media? They need to shut their yappers just like the mediator advised them to do. Leaking anything could lead to a breakdown in talks since both sides use it to manipulate public opinion. Silence is golden right now.
