It does not really matter though, as I listed about 15 other examples of poor front office manuvering, but I do stand corrected and readily admit it.

Bottom line is that the Raiders have made a thousand poor front office moves, and we will see if history repeats itself. Apparently our opinions differ, only time will tell.

Apparently, the front office of the Patriots’ organization (whom I do not work for) took a chance with him for a 3rd rd pick and missed, I suppose that happens from time to time with anyone.

That hardly detracts from all of the players that I listed, if that was your ‘point.’ The Raiders have been a fron toffice nightmare, and that is a fact, not my opinion. Bringing up a guy that Al Davis paid millions of dollars to that no longer even works in the NFL only proves my point even more. At least the Patriots didn’t take much of a risk, nor did they give him a bunch of money.

Some people questioned Al Davis for resigning Tommy Kelly and giving him the largest contract for a DT at the time. Well, look at how that turned out. He was 2nd in the league in sacks from the DT position. The guy was a beast last season.

Finally, this article doesn’t make any sense. It’s UP TO $80m over the course of 3+ years. On top of that the Raiders still have enough cap space, if cap space remained the same after a new CBA, to actually make Zach Miller the highest paid TE @ an avg of $8m a year and resign Aso @ an avg of $12m a year. And above all that they can still sign 2-3 guys for $7m a year before they enter cap hell.

This is the most recent article from the fall, where the raiders are the 8th highest payroll in the league. And this is obviously BEFORE all of these recent signings.

As of 11 months ago they were at 132 million, which would’ve been over the cap already, and that’s not mentioning any of the huge, recent moves. When the cap comes back with a new CBA, the owners want it decreased to around the 2008 numbers.

We understand the contracts, whether they’re front-loaded, or back-loaded. If they’re back-loaded, as you say then how does that not lead to cap trouble down the road? They’ll never be able to afford those high numbered contracts in a few yrs, and will have to take a cap hit even if they cut them in a few yrs.

Let’s take a look at the GENIUS that is Al Davis :

1. JaMarcus Russel— 61 Million
2. Darren McFadden– 60 Million
3. Javon Walker– 55 Million 4.Darius Heyward-Bey– 25 Million

All horrible, underachieving, overpaid contracts. The Russel contract is the worst ever in NFL history. Javon Walker may be the 2nd worst. That’s 116 million for JaMarcus and Javon alone, lol. Many teams didn’t spend that on their entire team last year.

Now Let’s look at his great cap moves lately:

1. Seymour— 15 million per year
2. Asomaugh– 15 million per yr
3. Wimbley— 11 million per year
4. Stanford Routt (LOL) 11 million per year
5. Henderson (was looking at NFL minimum) 4 per
6. Jason Campbell 5 million per

The ridiculous reaching of draft picks:

1. Michael Huff (1st rd—7th overall pick!!)
2. Mike Mitchell (shows promise, but 2nd rd?)

What do the playoff scores have to do with anything at all? It’s totally irrelevant to the conversation. If that is your contribution, then maybe you should re-read the conversation.

The Jerod Mayo pick at #9, and the contract example were relative to the Raiders having given up their #17 pick this year. No ones talking about ‘scores,’ success, failures, or anything about that.

He said that Al Davis saved 30+ million by not having a first rd pick this year. I reminded him that OAK’s pick at #17 (to New England) will not be for 30+ million, more like 3 million per year, and maybe 15-18 total. Nothing to do with playoff success, records, or the like. From a Raiders’ fans perspective, you’d think you all hit the lottery if you went to the playoffs 2 yrs in a row anyway, lol.

I can understand why you’re bitter, considering the tuck rule game, the Randy Moss steal, and the fact that they’re STILL getting draft picks from the Moss trade even this year. We clearly have one of the best D-lines in football coached by the guy (Waufle) who sacked the #$%^ out of the NFL the year the Giants won the Super Bowl.

Oh, one last thing: I thought when you have a D-line that got to the QB as much as the Raiders did last season, your CB’s get more interceptions and chances to make plays:

Maybe I’m crazy, but letting Asomugha go might be the best thing for the Raiders. I’ve watched every single Raider game for years (live in Vancouver BC, travel to Oaktown for AT LEAST one home game every season, season ticket holder section 116, HOLLER), he has a knack for giving up the big play/penalty and loves to put his hands up in the air blaming the coverage, pretending he didn’t know what happened. I love the dude, he’s great, but I’d rather have C-Wood any day of the week.

With the $80.6 million worth of contracts in the matter of nine days given out by the Raiders, maybe it’s a good thing that none of it will go to Nnamdi Asomugha.

No disrespect taken. Might I remind the entire thread….that MUCH OF THE SALARIES SPENT OUT IS BACKLOADED. It never spends out to the amount, because the player is either released or re-negotiates for less when the contract hits the accelerator clause. This depends and is unique to each contract signed. The key amount is the guaranteed money. That 80 million in total is not guaranteed. Thats why the CBA draft deal is so crucial for rookies.
