Dear Raidermick,

Great job of sweeping your division. But what was more remarkable was your teams uncanny abilty to get manhandled by San Francisco, Tennessee, Houston, Pittsburgh, Miami… (I think you get the point).

I mean, who DIDN’T stomp out SD, DEN, and KC last season. Unemployment and weak sports teams is all Oakland is good for.

When most teams make a controversial move, at least one fan of that team will post here saying that despite them being a fan, they disagree with the move.

When the Raiders make a move that is questionable, every single comment from Raider fan boy is completely positive.

If you only read the comments on this site and read nothing else about football, you would assume that the Raiders were a perennial juggernaut whose owner had never made a single mistake.

Never blown a draft pick, never made a bad free agent signing, never overpaid a player.

I’m sure I’ll get lots of angry, indignant responses to this (not one of which will be well thought out or civil), but the fact is that Raider Fan Boy is the biggest cool aid drinking, butt kissing, delusional homer in all of sports.

I know ur not a raider fan an could care less but al Davis was a coach before an owner… as a fan I hate this move, this money could be going to starters and guys more deserving than routt… like zach miller, Michael bush, Michael huff, really any other FA this year…

A lot of people are really missing the boat on this one because they don’t follow the Raiders. They just like to spew their crap when the Raiders are in the headlines. Did anyone stop to think that Rod Woodson-you know, the new DB coach, might have had some input on this before the deal was struck? I’m pretty sure that Al sought out Woodson’s opinion before backing up the brink’s truck. My guess is that Woodson has a high opinion of Routt, and thinks that he can get even more production out of him.

Way to go Al, This guy is on the way up and we will keep Namdi as well, wait and see…The way things are shaping up for the Raiders we will be tough to beat. I can’t really think of a team that can beat us…we easily win 3 out of the next five SB’s

I usually don’t participate in the dogging of the Oakland Raiders but this move is . This guy was burned badly, missed tackles like it was no one’s business, and that game and a half where Nnnamdi was hurt Stanford did not step up.

Plus when you give a guy the big bucks, he stops playing. Oaklands secondary is going to get shredded by Cassel and Rivers.

Wow… as I’ve said before, as crazy as Undead Al has been and will be, he’s usually ahead of the curve on the whole business curve of the NFL. That said, it looks like ownership won’t be getting anywhere near the $1 billion they’ve been demanding from the players.

I agree, Routt is underrated. He always seems to take a lot of grief from Raider fans (including myself) on gameday. It is hard to play opposite Asumugha when it means you are seeing upward of 75% of the passes coming your way, so I can understand his struggles from time to time.

With that being said, I am happy Routt is returning, but making that sort of money seems a little extreme. This is SHUTDOWN PRO BOWL corner money, and I don’t think Routt is quite there yet. Sure, he is improving every year, and I would rather have him on the #1 receiver than Chris Johnson, but just not sure he deserves this sort of raise.

Let’s just hope he continues to improve along the lines of Asomugha. Hopefully Rod Woodson can turn him into that SHUTDOWN corner we covet (even though we are letting one walk away in Asomugha…).
