The interviews happen so fast and furious here at the NFL Scouting Combine that we can’t possibly get to every player, coach, and G.M., much less write about it all.

So in an effort to get a lot of content up quickly, here are nine nuggets we heard Friday that we haven’t written up yet.

1. Cam Newton is not expected to speak with the media as scheduled Friday. A few writers are making a big deal of this, but he’s expected to speak tomorrow. So who really cares? Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett also may not talk until tomorrow; he was scheduled for Friday.

2. Seahawks G.M. John Schneider on Matt Hasselbeck: “Matt is Mr. Seattle, and he has done a ton of great things for the city, on and off the field. We’ve had good dialogue.” Contract talks are still ongoing.

3. The Seahawks will look for a different type of offensive lineman under new line coach Tom Cable. They will look for bigger, more physical linemen instead of smaller types.

4. Seattle spoke with defensive tackle Brandon Mebane’s agent last night. We called Mebane the team’s biggest offseason priority.

5. Packers G.M. Ted Thompson basically said there’s no such thing as a shutdown corner. Thought that was true and telling.

6. Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said he wouldn’t pressure Alan Faneca into making a decision about retirement anytime soon, but was hopeful Faneca would return to the team.

7. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio was high on free agent Bob Sanders and confirmed he passed a physical with the team. He noted that Sanders’ last two issues were freak injuries: torn biceps.

8. Del Rio said Terrence “Pot Roast” Knighton struggled with his weight late last season and it hurt his play. Knighton also came into camp overweight, but it was believed he handled he issue.

9. Asked if Jamaal Charles would get more snaps next season, Chiefs coach Todd Haley stressed that Charles remains a “developing player.” Hard to read too much into that non-answer, but it’s not what big Charles fans (fantasy owners) said.
