In his defense (and I normally don’t come to his defense…), he wasn’t the first to speak of the Vikings.

What I find odd is the post that says nothing about Flynn or the Packers, but is just a post to rip Vikings fans, and it has garnered 66 thumbs up. I understand if you are fed up with certain people, but come on….

As far as Flynn goes…. I expect him to be gone, but definitely not to the Vikings, and probably to the AFC. I’ll guess it happens the night after day one of the draft, when a team with a QB need doesn’t get one.

How’d that turn out?

Quite well. The Packers won a Superbowl with Rodgers earning MVP honors and Favre tried to “stick it to Thompson” (BrINT’s own words) while costing the Vikings a FG attempt from going to the Superbowl. Throw in the lost 2010 season where Favre & company lost both games vs the Packers and the fact that the Vikings still don’t have a Qb and you could say its all a dream come true.

How’d that turn out?

A National Championship (earned in taking LSU all the way, after holding a clipboard behind Jamarcus Russell for years).

A Super Bowl ring (earned holding a clipboard behind Aaron Rodgers).

Say what you want, but I think some personnel people in the NFL are looking specifically for Matt Flynn types; QBs that know what it takes to win.

Sure, and add “wildly inaccurate” to that list of attributions while you’re at it. if they take Locker at 12, they’d be even dumber than I thought — and that’s saying something.

He might not be that valuable to other teams to fetch that high of a pick, but he’s definitely valuable enough to the Packers to value him that high.

Vikings could give a rat’s ass about Flynn. So he had a decent showing against the Pats. Vikings rookie Webb made his first start in Philly and won it. Webb has got way more athletic talent than Flynn. That being said, Vikings will draft or sign another QB that Webb will compete against.Keep your boy Packers.”

So is Tavaris Jackson. Look where that got the Vikings.

What’s between the ears is more important than physical talent.

As for Flynn I’m torn on this one. On one hand there are new concussion rules in the NFL, so having a quality backup that knows your system will prove more valuable than ever. On the other, you guys are right this guys stock is high, plus a lot of teams have holes at QB at this point. Either way you slice this one it’s going to work out for the pack.

Wake up Pervy, the NFL doesn’t revolve around your team. You talk as if a trade to MN is the only alternative to him staying w/ Green Bay.

Although you’d have to admit the irony of it would be something else. What? You don’t remember? MN traded its 5th and 7th for the Packers 5th to move up and get John David Booty in 2008. And the Packers used that that 7th on… you guessed it: Matt Flynn.

This is what Thompson does. Takes a 5th, turns it into two players, Develops one of them into something the rest of the league covets, ends up turning that players into a 2nd and a 4th.

You might be high on Joe Webb for the moment, but the people who matter (ie Rick Spielman) don’t agree with you. But Thompson isn’t going to trade Flynn anywhere where it might hurt him. He’d rather leave the Vikes to their obviously deficient devices and let them try to find a QB in the draft. Since that’s worked out so well for them in the past. Daunte and Brad Johnson, what a pedigree that is.

Seems to mirror a comment I made the other day how there is always a “right now” at the end of whatever a coach/GM says, either said or implied. LOL

Difference is he was thrust into the Lions with very little prep and played terribly. For the Pats game he prepared to start the game for the entire week and played very well.

That being said, Flynn is worth at least a late 2nd round pick given his value right now. GB doesn’t need him. You can’t keep an in-demand quality QB on your roster because Rodgers has a history of concussions. That’s not something you can predict, like shoulder issues or knee issues. Concussions are a fluke thing that can happen to anybody. And Flynn’s value will never be higher given his age and great primetime performance against NE.
