I disagree – I think Manning is still the cream of the crop.

His biggest knock, in my mind, is his inablity to throw when rushed. The word is out. Things are only going to get worse.

Hanie is their best option, behind that Oline, and seeing how much money they have tied up in Cutler, Caleb will never see the field.

Suits me just fine. Heck, I hope Cutler gets another contract extension.

The problem is his consistency, not his raw talent. When he’s on, he can be an elite QB. But too often he is “off” and makes bone-headed throws. Mentally, he does not have what it takes to be elite. Nor does he have the leadership abilities to carry his team. It’s no coincidence that the Bears only started winning once they took the ball out of Cutler’s hands.

My thoughts exactly. The only thing that will change public opinion of this guy is a super bowl or two, and that’s just not in the cards.

The current “elite” QB’s in the league are Brady and Rodgers. Before manning lovers crucify me, you might want to consider the possibility that you’re team is about to make a big mistake locking him up ’til his age 49 season. His best years are behind him.

If Martz would have opened his eyes and seen Cutler running for his life in the beginning of the NFC Championship game and then put him in the effing shotgun and gotten rid of the ball sooner, like he did when Hanie came in the game, we’d be celebrating a SuperBowl Championship.

Maybe you’re joking and if you are, ignore this but if 3/4 of the league would have loved to have him why did only one team that we know of try to get him when he was available? If the guy is truly elite, then all those picks Den wanted wouldn’t have scared off teams.

Yes his WRs and OL were below average in Chi last year and that did hurt his performance but when the guy had great WRs & a solid TE and one of the best pass protecting OLs in the entire NFL in Den he still chucked a crapload of INTs. I don’t want to hear anything about his defense sucking either. I am not talking about W-L, I am talking about HIS performance when he had elite talent around him at the skill positions and OL.

How many QBs get more than 5 years in the league with most of that as the starter to try to get to be elite and how many elite or great QBs take 6 years to have become elite? Answer? ZERO.

2011, if there is one, will probably be Cutler’s watershed season. If the Bears do little to nothing, Cutler will begin his journeyman phase shortly thereafter – three to four teams in the next five years and out of the league.

I’m not gonna bag on him for his NFC championship performance either – frankly Johnny Knox and his misfit band of WR’s don’t matchup too well with the likes of Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams and Sam Shields (probably one of, if not THE top CB trio in the league). Oh, and that swiss cheese OL that they have didn’t help either. You try throwing to those clowns running routes when you’ve got Clay Matthews breathing down your neck.

I’m not sure having Joe Montana in his prime would have even been able to make that work.
