Maybe the scrub can back me up in Warshington next year. This just in: rocket arms don’t require brains. Go read a book, McElroy.****

Not sure which is funnier, your statement or the fact that your name is that of a pathetic Quarterback.

btw, Rocket Arms bring back memories of JaMarcus Russell, Jeff George, Ryan Leaf, David Klinger, etc etc etc..of course, given your name, we wouldn’t expect you to have serious knowledge of what it takes to be an NFL Qb.

Myron Rolle scored a 33. What the hell?

__________________________________
#1-I am guessing Rolle did close to zero prep for this test since he was overseas at Oxford up until pretty close to the time the draft happened IIRC and was probably more concerned with doing well on/training for the physical tests since he hadn't played the past year.

#2-I would guess that the position he plays (S) has one of the worst average Wonderlic scores of any position. His getting a 33 shows he's basically Einstein or Edison for his position. 33 is a pretty good score for a QB or OL and they are the two highest scoring positions IIRC.

But sometimes you just know you nailed it. Like, back in the 4th grade, I just knew I had aced this pop quiz…

If the draft experts are so expert, where are the surprises? They all have virtually the same board order, surprise me: tell me the next Tom Brady, the next Terrell Davis. TELL ME THE NEXT 6TH ROUND CHOICE WHO’S GONNA BE GREAT THAT NO ONE ELSE THINKS IS GONNA BE GREAT.

Mel Kiper is one huge d-bag. And if it’s true that John Clayton has a ponytail, I’ll gag myself off the planet.
-----------------------------------------
Kiper makes his selection by drawing a name out of a hat and runs with it. Same goes for Todd McShay.

I pretty much only listen to Mike Mayock because he takes the hype out of the draft and is quick to discount Combine workouts and side with a kids full body of work.

The Wonderlic is a very, very standardized test. The only catch to it is that it's administered against the clock. I think you only get like 12 minutes to attempt to answer all 50 questions or something like that. And yes, the better your K thru 12 education, the better you will likelier score on this exam. This isn't a college level exam; it's like a simplified short SAT, against the clock. Heck, you don't even need community college experience to do well on this. If there were no element of time, you'd get a lot higher scores on average. That said, if you score really low on this exam, then that's maybe a red flag, provided you need to conjugate verbs or solve for X or something.

Hey Mike, you're forgetting one very important thing.

As a Rhodes Scholar - maybe he "knew" he got at least 48 of them correct !

As someone who's taken a Wonderlic before, about 25 of the questions are easy (many of them ridiculously easy), another 15 are fairly tough, and the other 10 are tough.

Maybe he aced the first 40 as well as 8 of the 10 tough ones, and perhaps "guessed" at the 2 he didn't know ?

The Wonderlic is totally inaccurate, unreliable and a complete waste of time. Some guys like Donovan McNabb reportedly scored low and had pretty good careers, while others -like Ryan Leaf- scored fairly high and were total busts.

I don't see all the fuss about the Wonderlic test.

Employers give the test as well and no one has a problem with it. I don't believe it should be a sign as to how well you perform but if you put it in context of a guy that has a low score and doesn't work hard (VY and JaMarcus Russel come to mind) then I think it gives an employer some kind of a sign as to what to expect from his employee.

I took the test and other types of test over the years and for me, it was a non-issue

I have taken the Wonderlic and have to say that if a person did score a 48 it would most likely be because they have memorized several versions of the test in order to get a better score and just happened to get one of the tests they memorized.

It is definitely possible for a person to score a 48 but it would be a phenomenal achievement.
