After three days of being tight-lipped regarding the unusual incident that occurred at the players’ hotel in Indianapolis on Thursday night of the Scouting Combine, the league has acknowledged the incident with an official statement.

“Four individuals were improperly granted credentials to access a players-only area at the Scouting Combine on Thursday night,” the league said. “Those who provided the credentials were dismissed from the Combine. Those who used the credentials were fully cooperative with security when the misuse of credentials was discovered, and explained that they had no intent to violate Combine rules and access a secure area. They believed at all times that the credentials were appropriately authorized. After fully reviewing the facts, we accept this explanation and consider the matter closed.”

The four individuals were agent Jimmy Sexton, agent Pat Dye, Jr., Sexton employee James Denton, and Sexton general counsel Rick Landrum, and the credentials came from Under Armour. Dye gave us the whole story on Monday, and the statement from the league corroborates it, though without much detail.
