If there’s a lockout, football players will be looking for other things to do. One of the top quarterback prospects in the 2011 draft will be able to play another pro sport, if he chooses.
As MDS pointed out last month, baseball’s Angels (we’re not sure what geographic location they currently claim, nor frankly do we care) hold Jake Locker’s rights. Angels G.M. Tony Reagins said that the team remains interested, pointing to Locker’s draft position and the labor situation as factors that could nudge him toward the pastime formerly known as America’s.
In a Tuesday appearance on ProFootballTalk Live, Locker said that he won’t be running on any base paths.
“I’m concentrating on become the best football player I can right now,” Locker said, “and that’s where my focus is and that where my efforts are going to be and that’s where they’ll continue to be.”
So there you have it. Locker won’t be heading to wherever it is that the Angels play.
