Speed kills, but does he hit when he gets to the ball carrier. Maybe he can catch up with a receiver and just run along beside him. You’ve got to knock the receiver down not just run with him.

Also no mention of Chekwa running with a cast on his arm.

I like Chekwa, I dont think he is a first rounder, but I think he has some potential (especially if he can get the interference calls in check).

I think I can speak for the Buckeye fans who posted already, as well as myself , that we feel slighted because he and his time were not mentioned in the article–not because we think he is the best pick at his position.

I agree with brandonyer. I love the Buckeyes, and while Chekwa was certainly the best DB on the team, he isn’t a top 10 pick.

A. The Big Ten isn’t exactly pass happy
B. He’s coming off a broken arm/wrist suffered in the bowl game
C. Chekwa spent a lot of time playing Safety or lining up as the nickel corner. Love his versatility, but all that doesn’t make him a better lockdown corner prospect.

I am a huge Buckeyes fan, and there is no way I would want the Packers to draft Chewka over Peterson. Chekwa is a good CB, but not underated by any means.

If available the Cleveland Browns will take Patrick Peterson. If they get him they will have the best young secondary in the league.

The reason no one is mentioning Chekwa is because he’s 6’0″ 190. These guys are all at least 6’2″ 200+ lbs

Patrick Peterson will be an All Pro corner if given a chance to play his game. He is a shut down corner who plays at his best when he is allowed to jam receivers at the line. With his phenomenal speed, cover skills, ball skills and work ethic he has a great chance to be one of the top five corners in the league for years to come and can slide over to safety after 10-12 years in the league. With all of the big receivers in the league, it would be nice to have a corner over 5’10″, who can run.

Of course more Buckeye haterism showing here, totally ignoring Chimdi Chekwa running a 4.33. He’s certainly a better CB prospect than Prince and his 4.37 that everyone blew a nut about.

Only question w/ Peterson has nothing to do with speed. Most big CBs struggle with their hip turns and quickness. If PP answers those questions in a positive way then he’s can’t miss.

i’m suprised that more teams dont place huge value on CB’s like these guys. Teams still look for the 5’10 speed guys.. Most big name receivers in the league now aren’t speed monsters but are 6’3 220 with serious ball skills.

Yeah let’s not mention Chimdi Chekwa. He was “ONLY” a 4.33… and has better all around game. He’s as technically sound as it gets. I’ll take Chimdi all day over Peterson myself.
