PFT Live: Did Pats swindle Jets in ’08 draft?

The Jets cut bait with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2008 draft, Vernon Gholston. Mike Florio makes a case that the Patriots may have tricked the Jets into picking Gholston. And now that Gholston has gone down as a major bust, Florio also wonders if the Patriots could add insult to injury and turn Gholston’s career around. Florio also kicks off PFT Live talking about the Wonderlic test and more.

  1. If the Pats did in fact swindle the Jets, it couldn’t have happened to a better team.

The Jets used their relationship with Roger Goodell (Former Jets Employee) to orchastrate the whole “Spygate” afair. Imagine, fining a team $500,000 and a 1st round pick for filming signals that 70,000 people could see from their seats.

Yes, good on the Jets if they were swindled. Well deserved.

  2. Agree totally with last comment. Especially since the only reason the Jets knew about any taping was that they guy that turned the Pats in was the guy doing the taping. That same jerk later said that all teams do it. Yet the Pats get mocked as cheaters by the fans of all the other teams including the Jets. All I have to say is Tripgate!

  3. How could they swindle the Jets into taking a crap player but then turn his career around. Crap is still crap even if you want to call it a turd.

  4. I would love to see the Pats sign Gholston and turn him into an amazing player, especially if he helps us win another Super Bowl. Something like that would leave a foul taste in the mouth of the Jets for a very, very long time.

  5. Yeah, kind of like how the Dolphins swindled the Pats to take Darius Butler in the ’09 draft.

  6. I think the Jets “swindled” the Patriots allowing them to win 45-3 during the regular season and then beating the crap out of them in front of their own fans in the playoffs.

    Talk about the ultimate swindle.
