We wrote about the Chiefs’ plan for organization-wide pay cuts this morning, noting that everyone up the organizational ladder would be taking some form of pay reduction. The Chiefs also won’t put any workers on an unpaid furlough.
We contrasted that approach to the Jets, who have announced furloughs for non-contracted employees and pay cuts for assistant coaches.
A team spokesman for the Jets has since contacted PFT to clarify that coach Rex Ryan, G.M. Mike Tannenbaum, and every other contracted employee on the football side of the business will take a 25% pay reduction in the event of a lockout.
After 90 days, the Jets would be allowed to cut employee pay up to 50%. Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger reported that the organization told employees they don’t plan to exercise that right.
