Former Lions receiver Tommie Boyd will be sentenced today after pleading guilty to having sex with a minor.
Boyd, who played for the Lions in 1997 and 1998, admitted to using his position as a track coach at Fraser High School in Michigan to coerce a student who was 14 years old at the time. He pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct in a deal that got five other charges dropped.
The girl who accused Boyd said Boyd offered her $5,000 to have sex, then gave her $200. Authorities said Boyd was also having sex with other students at the school.
“It seems like he’s been doing it with other 13-, 14- and 15-year-old girls,” Roseville Detective Michael Demick said.
