Thinking about why those three ...could be that PM just got franchise tagged, Brees is in the last year of his deal and Mankins is caught in the common RFA maneuvering. Each of them represent a stage of their careers that fall (or in Brees' case COULD fall)under team machinations to keep them off the market the longest without long term security in return and that players want to see resolved in their favor.
With Brady I have no idea. He doesn't belong in that group.

You cannot use players who fear getting cut. To use a 30+ year old tackle, receiver or any position the owners would collude and the player would never play an NFL down again, even at the league minimum (you cannot tell me that wouldn't happen). Back in the AFL days, Cookie Gilcrest and other Black players boycotted an allstar game because of racist treatment in New Orleans. The league moved the game to Houston, but they blacklisted the players involved. The players won, but they lost huge in the days where players didn't make that much money.

Using Manning, Brady, and Brees, you have 3 big name QB's that, if their team SHOULD cut them because of their involvement they would have 25 teams at their door with $20+ million contracts. Having them as your spokesmen makes sense for both the union and the players serving as spokesmen.

These 3 got picked because these three bring in the $$ to the owners. They will be a constant reminder of everyday profit loss. Without Brady, Manning and Brees selling t-shirts, box seats, beers and not being on TV.

Now as fans, support the players, they did not ask for this, they are not striking. They were just fine with the CBA as it was.
Don't go out and buy season tickets until this is over, don't order any NFL merchandise until this is over (Green Bay you guys get a pass on your SB DVD).

You want football back, make the $$ dry up while this goes on.

Fellow NE fans, if this goes to lockout tomorrow...Patriot Place should not be on your list of places to shop or see entertainment.
I love the Krafts, but the greed factor here- in the middle of a depression - is unacceptable. In a country dealing with 10% unemployment, and other economic factors, 32 rich guys wanting another 1 billion in profit...yeah, they do not get another dime from me until they bring back our beloved product. No service rendered, no cash from my pocket. Until #12 is on the field, and the great gray hoodie is roaming the sidelines, you have lost me as a customer.

They know things others have not experienced. These guys and many others in the background, no matter what color, are the ones who have to settle this. All white people?

Hmmm"

The players are smart enough to realize that when it comes to getting paid showing the owners, and the public, that 3 of their best players are willing to stand up for the rank and file is more important than the color of those players' skin. This is exactly what a non-racist organization would do; consider everything except skin color. The ones (black and white alike) that make comments like kujonicus' are the racists.

To be blunt, when it comes to the ultimate prize-getting paid-there is no Rooney Rule. Good for the players association, and good for Brady, Brees, and Manning.

When I think of the most high profile while at the same time most respected guys in the NFL today, no black guys come to mind. That’s not a knock against blacks, that’s just the way it is. Were you complaining about a lack of diversity when Reggie White was picked?

These people really don’t care where the money comes from do they??? How about the guy making 20K a year, or the guy making 40K a year with 3 kids, and a wife, or what about the family of four that goes to every game and both parents have to work to make 48K a year, while they spend six thousand four hundred to go to every game.

*****************************************

What is wrong with picture??? Apparently I haven't figured out how to prioritize well enough to provide for my family when I'm only making 20-40K per year and still go to a frickin football game that features rich athletes beating the crap out of each other.

Bet that you check the grocery ads every week to see who has the cheapest price for a 12-pack.

"I can see how these three guys would feel cheated in life by the NFL. Who knows where they could be without the terrible constraint of being forced to play football half the year."

16 weeks per year! But I agree with your point. I can see these three guys showing up in DC for some of that blowhard Rockefeller's hearings. All that has to happen to send the whole union position right down the toilet would be for one senator to ask what the combined annual salaries of these three guys are. Last I heard, Manning wants more than 23 million per year.

This ought to be priceless. Three super rich guys, dressed to the nines, one with fake goldie locks hair, complaining to the world that they are oppressed. Perfect!

All the union needs now is for fat Albert Haynesworth to tell the world how it is that after signing a 100 million dollar contract, he's a slave.

Saturday Night Live couldn't come up with a better skit than this!

People like Brees and Manning, but I think Brady has a couple of character flaws. The patriots have been so dominant in the past 10 years that most fans hate him because he doesn’t play on their team…..I’m one of these fans (Bills fan).

Don’t do it, Tom! You don’t have what it takes to go toe to toe with Kraft.

Just take your hair, your supermodel wifey, your Stetson and your 0-2 home playoff record in 2010 and 2011 and back away from the table….

---

He's gone toe to toe with Kraft before. He'll bring his 3 superbowls, 2 Superbowl MVPS, 2 regular season MVPS, 2 OPOY’s, 6 or 7 probowls, 1 Comeback Player of the Year, and 14-6 playoff record with him to court.

I think it’s smart to have these guys represent the players, but they should have had somebody more likable than Brady to fill the third spot. I think Tomlinson is very highly respected throughout the league and fanbase. Carson Palmer might not have had a great year, but he’s well respected. I’d even be happy with McNabb over Brady.

---

I think considering Tom Brady has won 3 superbowls, 2 Superbowl MVPS, 2 regular season MVPS, 2 OPOY's, 6 or 7 probowls, and 1 Comeback Player of the Year sort of makes him important to the NFL. You can hate him all day, but if you can't respect all of that and that he's willing to stand up for this then you're dumb.
