Jets still not talking about Bart Scott’s wrestling

When word first emerged that Jets linebacker Bart Scott engaged in “wrestling moves and simulated violence” while filming a segment for TNA’s iMPACT, the Jets opted not to comment on whether such activities would violate paragraph 3 of the Standard Player Contract, which prohibits players from taking physical risks beyond the scope of their employment.

Now that Scott’s spot has aired, the Jets continue to adopt a “no comment” approach. We received word that there will be no word from the team from team spokesman Bruce Speight earlier today.

If the team regards the conduct to be no big deal, common sense suggests that the team would say so. Common sense also suggests that, if the team regards Scott’s extracurricular activities as problematic, the Jets would say nothing publicly.

Privately, that may be a different story.
