To no one’s surprise, the entire NFL shares the Jets’ evaluation of Vernon Gholston.
Gholston cleared waivers after being officially cut by the Jets this week, according to Adam Caplan of FOXSports.com.
That makes Gholston an unrestricted free agent. Any team that wanted to claim him would have had to accept his previous contract with the Jets, which included a $2.565 million roster bonus.
Gholston will get another chance, but we don’t think he’ll be a lock to make a final 53-man roster this year. It’s not crazy to think he could finish his career without ever recording a sack.
